I know that the roman empire went through a few military updates in its time and so did the Greeks and the Gaulish barbarians, but will every faction in the game receive new units as part of a reform of some sort?

Right now in the beta, I think it's just the Romans. The KH have had their revolution, with the lighter hoplite equipment in use since the Peloponnesian war just over a century before. The Selucids can have a minor revolution, namely when a general gains the trait 'Intrigued by Kataphractoi'. Those are all that I know of.

There are the Neitos reforms for gallic factions, but I do not know if that is working. And I am sure there are more in-game right now, or at the very least there are plenty more in development for the next build.
thats good to hear, I was worried that the other factions would be left behind technology wise against the romans
It's not that they would get left behind...armies change and adapt to different weapons and tactics. Not to necessarily better or worse ones.
You can also argue that the Romans loose their most powerfull unit right in the first reform. They do gain some ammount of tactical flexibility in return.
What, the Neitos reforms not working? Well that certainly aborts my current Aedui campaign:furious3:
will romans only receive a reform at the marius and others or will it extend in the same sense as the cataphracts with the seleucids?
I mean in the sense that they started using the spanish swords instead of their original design right? will some change be made in that sense or no?

Technologically advanced????Most roman weapons were made in gaul and they were known as great metalworkers,hell the imperial gallic was made there.
true, guess rome is sticking with its well known reforms then
what other factions will get new units through battles like the seleucids and their cataphracts?

I think the hellenistic factions should get reforms for the hypapistpitai.

hmm, playing around with some factions i found the following reforms in 0.74, though i never had any reform really happening in EB:
So i am interested, which (roughly) factors trigger these reforms!?!
Romani:
Romani Reform (also called Polybian reforms?)
trigger: ?
Marian Reform (well known...)
trigger:
hardcoded, possible from 240bc on, depending on infrastructure build in rome/italy (?)
Aedui/Averni
Adeui/Averni Reform ("Neitos reforms")
trigger: ?
Greek Factions (at least KH, Makedonia, Pontos, Seleucia, Ptolemai)
none one really, though for Seleucid the mentioned trait with Cataphracts.
for all other factions i didn“t recognize anything specific.
please add your information, if there are other reforms already in 0.74
Eb doesn't use the hardcoded marius reforms, they use a script to get the reforms at around the correct date, so the marian reforms happen aroun 107bc.

Trigger for Polybian reforms is getting to 209 bc (possibly 208 though, so somewhere around there). And the trigger for Marian, as already stated is 107 bc, as EB does not use the Vanilla dynamic triggers.
I also just looked at the current recruitment guide, and judging by that: Both the Roxolani reform and the Neitos reforms (which include several other units than just the neitos) coincide with the Polybian Reforms. Wasn't sure if it was working or not, but judging by the fact that the reforms trigger is present in the export_descr_buildings.txt with these units, I'd say it is working as intended.
As of now there is no reforms that I can see for any of the hellenic factions, however the EB team has already stated that they will exist in 08. Also, in the next build, the Roman reforms WILL be dynamic, possibly similar to those in Vanilla.

What reforms? They are available from the get go as troops who are trained and equipped in the same manner as the Hypaspistai of Alexander. The Pheraspidai assault infantry is actually also part of the Hypaspistai.
Makedonia will have a reform where they lose their Argyraspidai & Pezhetairoi and gain the Hysteroi Pezhetairoi, or Reformed Pezhetairoi in return.
Maybe Karthadastim will get for Late Infantry variants.

What about a reform for the Koinon Hellenon?
IIRC Sparta eventually adopted the sarrissa for its phalanx, and just kept the old equipment for its spartiate elite.
So how about a reform similar to the Seleucid adoption of the Cataphract- a general could get an "intrigued by phalangites" trait after losing a battle, or winning a costly victory against Makedonia/Arche Seleukeia/Ptolemaioi. Of course, the date should play a role too, they shouldn't be able to switch over just 10 years into the game.
I'm not sure if any other cities on the southern mainland adopted the sarrissa, but EB is for a good part about rewriting history, not reliving it 100%. It doesn't seem like a stretch at all that the other cities would adopt the sarrissa once they were forced to recognise its advantages.
