Hello,

Looking through the forums this site seems to contain a lot of useful information and friendly people. So, I was wondering if anyone could answer what seems to me to be a really stupid question, but which I just can't seem to figure out. In MTW, I'll spend 5 minutes or more setting up a formation before a battle begins, but once the enemy comes from a slightly different angle, the entire formation is trashed. I can make the soldiers face the enemy by alt-right clicking, and I can move them in formation--with somewhat wierd results by alt-left clicking, but I can't make the entire army rotate a formation the way one can in Rome TW. Is it just not possible in the game? Thanks kindly for any aid.

No, you can“t rotate a formation exactly the same way as in Rome using the keyboard, but if you assign units to a group or predefined formation ALT-right should work.

I have had this issue as well. How do you assign a basic setup formation and then move them all at once??? (say slowly advance?)

I don't rely on preset formation at all.

I use "banding" (holding down ctrl and draw a box) to tell my units exactly where they should stand. A lot of micro management and click-clickity-clicks, but I don't need to remember which preset formation am having.

The down side of that is my formation is not as pretty as someone may like. I received many comments from allies telling me to learn managing my troops better, put them in nice formation, nice order, etc. Appreciate those comments, but it is hard for me to relearn the tricks.

In RTW, formations could be "wheeled" and that's a nice feature MTW lack.

Garbled Text and El Diablo, welcome to the Org! ~

Unforunately, Ciaran and FallenJade are correct. In MTW, your best bet is to take each individiual unit (and/or group of units) one-by-one and drag them into the formation you want.

Indeed. Battle control and interface is one of the few areas in which Rome is undeniably superior to Shogun and Medieval. ~
