Freddie Garrity, the lead singer of the 1960s pop band Freddie and the Dreamers, has died in hospital.
The 65-year-old, originally from Manchester, had been receiving treatment for what were described as "circulation problems".

A little bit personal for me this. When I was a nipper I sat on his knee at his aunties house. My mum knew his family well and went to school with his aunt. A great lad and one of the more memorable acts in the early 60s. A sad loss.
