Hi all somebody please help me with STW!!!Im new!!

:dizzy2: Hi all I am trying to get involved with the multi player games with STW I have all the versions Original MI and WE...

I read about updating the config file and have done that but the rooms were empty then i downloaded the new patch and now havent even got the multi-player option any more ...

I have windows xp on my laptop and was wondering do i even need the patch?!?!? I am happy to uninstall and start again if someone can just give me the correct information so i can get playing

Also once i am up and running what is the best time to log on for games I live in the uk so am unsure when there will be ppl online :help: :wall:

I am also considering getting one of the newer games should i just wait for ME2?? thanks

Unfortunately, I myself lack the skills needed to come to your aid. I did put up a post in Shogun's multiplayer section (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=109), however. The fine fellows there are very helpful, and should be able to provide you with the answers you seek. ~:)

I've never heard of the multiplayer option disappearing. A reinstall would be a good idea.

Hi thanks for your replies the re- install worked i got the multi player option back just need to get a game going as i can get into the lobby but no body is there and i cant post in any other sections yet to get a game on:furious3:

Indeed there's very few people around here at this moment. It might get better, but not much sadly. I used to play a lot.. but I got a new comp and can't login anymore :embarassed:

anyway... in weekends you will find some people. if you live in europe/afrika try the evening. in america try the late morning early afternoon. if in asia or australia try early in the morning (lol :P )

thanks mate I am seriously stressed at the minute I can now install STW and Warlord edition but when i install MI with the patch etc It wont let me onto the jap map in single player so its obvious it wont let me do 2 player should i just leave out mongol and just install WE????

I got so annoyed i went out and bought Rome Gold Edition only to install it and find that i need a 64mb video card all the graphic are messed up and it had this message during install about a file not being the same as in setup or something deeerrrrrr Total war just doesnt see to be happening for me at the moment!!!!:furious3: :wall: :oops:

If you have Shogun: Warlord Edition, you don't need to install Mongol Invasion. ST:WE is both the original game & the expansion pack (along with the patch) combined.

Usually laptops utilise an onboard graphics chip such as a Radeon M, this can often share the system memory and doesn't always have memory of it's own IIRC. You may want to add more memory to your laptop, if necessary, and then adjust the shared memory size in the system bios to allocate more memory to the graphics chip.

That is wicked I would love to play to but I am having trouble with it still

1.Should I install STW then install WE or Can I just install WE without STW?
1a.Should I install WE into the same STW game folder or a seperate folder?

2.when I goto play single player It tells me there is a problem with jap map or something when I have the both installed

3.How do i get onto R's server if i ever get the game working

I have lost track of how many times I have installed and re-installed!!!!

Correct.

You don't need to install Shogun.

You don't need to install Mongol Invasion.

You just install Warlord Edition, download the 2.01 patch, and you're all set. ~:)

thats cool cheers the thing is i seem to be having trouble when i install the patch The game doesnt seem to work properly I have it running all good at the moment without the patch I will save the computer restore point before the patch is installed and have this as my internet cfg

but as soon as the patch is there It doesnt play but it might have been due to the fact i had all the versions of the game installed and i was using a codec which was wrong ?? if there is a codec i need which one is the right one for my laptop if the game runs now with out the patch do i need the codec when ive installed the patch ??

Those settings are correct. As you say, because you had different versions of the game installed etc that could have caused your problems.

You need either....

Shogun Total War AND The Mongol Invasion expansion pack AND 1.02 patch



or
Shogun Total War Warlords Edition AND the 1.02 patch

Both amount to the same:2thumbsup:

I installed v1.12 patch english version for the worlord edition now i load it up and i get the old movie intro and it says this on the menu screen

I set up this little site a while ago, for compressed info on my FakeServer:

It's up & running 24/7. If you can't connect and the problem persists for more than an hour it's an error on your side.
All other questions should have appeared before and, if so, were being discussed in Sword Dojo, Section MP.
When you visit the Sword Dojo MP section, edit the options to display the threads of the last year or older, instead of default last month's threads. Bottom of page or your User panel.
Check out the stickied threads on top for hosting etc.

Don't hesitate to ask if you have further questions. I'm more involved in our Samurai Warlords mod for M:TW/VI but
am always glad to help. Saw Otto on the Server the other day (couldn't join you, was busy), so he figured it out allright.
