View Full Version : Baktria Bugs
First of all, before I get to the complain stuff, what a great mod you made!!
I stopped playing RTW for something like a year so I hadn't played EB yet (I followed all the previews and was really anxious to play it) so starting it up yesterday was loads of fun :)
However, playing as Baktria I noticed 1 major bug and a minor thingy. I'm playing on VH/M
1 - major bug --> My spies are dying with every action I give them. I've had 6 spies die on me so far
2 - minor thing --> I'm getting killed by 1 unit of Indian Eulotheroi with bows and swords. They can beat my horses, my infantry and both of them at once. Kinda unbalanced isn't it when my army is getting killed by a few units of Eulotheroi's...

Whats your spy's skill level? they die easily if they dont have a good skil level. and its random
It's probably not a high level but in order to get a high level spy I'll have to train him by letting him do assignments.
The point is that out of 6 spies (maybe even 7 or 8, can't remember) with 6 assignments (5 times to spy a village, once to spy an army) they died 6 times. Not even once a failure. All death. I understand this when the chance to succes is 1% but not when it's like 30% (since 1/3th should survive with such a chance).
Also, now playing as Pontus I'm having lot's of trouble with rebel horse archers. Kinda like the same as the rebel around Baktria with bows and swords.
I don't understand why archers are so overpowered. Horse archers are imo unbeatable as are missile units who are stronger then my infantry units...

It's a lot harder to have success with spies. You have to 'train' them a lot. Keep them, every turn, spying on easier targets, like captains in the field and such. And try to get them into cities and stay there, so they can build spyguilds there. Keeping a lot of them constantly training is the only way they can be successful in EB.
Besides these, is Baktria even supposed to be played at this stage? Every time I command a battle, after it finishes loading out after my victory, it CTD's immediantly. If I autoresolve, I lose so many troops that to continue fighting is.... difficult to say the least. I removed the EB speed up mod, so right now the game is just standard .74

Either "every time I command a battle" it ctd's is a large exaggeration, or there has to be something else wrong with your build. This is not something that happens normally with any faction in the 074 build. The faction is definitely playable in 074.
I re-installed and had the same problem. And so far it hasn't been a exaggeration, though I haven't tested attacking all the factions in the vincity, just near-by rebe; cities. Its happened with every rebel whether in town or out on the field, and they've attacked me every time I try to go exterminate the yuehzi. Attacking seleucia doesn't seem very smart on your third turn, but I shall test that out. And try attacking the parthian town as well. Maybe its a weird glitch in my download, but I've never had any other problem like this. I'm assuming its going to be a glitch because even following the Baktria play guide for the early game it happens.

Smells like the elusive Reinforcement Bug to me. Are your armies led by a general? Are there two enemy armies, with the reinforcements led by a captain? Those types of battles seem to give me CTD's 90% of the time...
That's an awful lot of ctd's though. I have yet to experience a CTD in a 50 year campaign as Baktria, and with a fair number of reinforcement battles (about 10 I suppose).
And maybe these bugs have been addressed, but here are a few:
my governor in Kophen sometimes gets field-related traits (tired of campaigning or something along those lines)...is there something wrong with Kophen's coordinates in the traits file?
I have two family members that keep going to the Olympics, even if they're out in the countryside, or on campaign in enemy territory.
I've just recently gotten back to my computer and haven't had any play time for a while now, its not worth it to play for just an hour at a time, but I always combine all my forces I can scrounge up and then queue up a few more to join my ranks later, so I do have two generals leading the attack.
