View Full Version : Do we have any boxing fans here?
If so, who are your top 5 pfp? Reasons why and further boxing discussion encouraged. :boxing:
I like boxing, as long as they don't hit back...
I sometimes watch boxing but I can't say who would be my top 5 as I just lack the knowledge to make a somewhat decent judgement.

Though my knowledge lacks a lot, I really love watching boxing.

All-time greats or current fighters?
I'd say current as it matters more... if you want to put it that way.

Chris Healey ftw. :laugh4: Not a proffesional boxer, but he's going to do it for a living when he gets out of college. He'll be a big name one day, I say!

My knowledge is limited to ESPN's Friday Night Fights, so I don't see all of the boxing out there. I like watching "Nigerian Nightmare" Samuel Peter. He is aggressive, powerful, and highly ranked as a heavyweight, so he might not be on TV for much longer. I also enjoy the fights of Jason Litzau, he is a featherweight who is very hard to catch.
Friday Night Fights is wonderful. You should also check out Wednesday Night Fights if you like that. Teddy Atlas, the man is class. Also, there are a lot of good fights running on ESPN Classic you might enjoy.
Sam Peters is all right. He's all power, not much else to offer. If he worked at it enough and truly developed some boxing skills, he'd be a force to be reckoned. with. He gave Wladimir Klitschko a run for his money in their meeting a few months back.
Litzau's fight against Nolasco I believe was pretty fun. Haven't really seen much of him since, although he's been fighting and winning.

Same.
I'll just name some british boxers that do it for me :
Ricky Hatton ('Cos he's, like, the best)
Amir Khan ('Cos i've jumped on the bandwagon like everyone else)
Joe Calzaghe ('Cos he's REALLY good, even if he is Welsh)
Scott Harrison ('Cos he used to live near me)
Junior Witter ('Cos he might win a title)

yeah, they're all good.
I'd choose Floyd Mayweather and Marco Antonio Barrera, although the former's yet to really show his class and the latter is getting on a bit.
I do think that the best pfp fighters in the world are mainly around welterweight/middleweight these days, and also the featherweights, like Manny Pacquio and Erik Morales. Joe Calzaghe I was especially impressed with, he beat Jeff Lacey easily and showed his real class.
Ye Calzaghe is a touch of class. On another note, I'm concerned about Harrison, i heard they may take his title away because of his depression/alchohol related problems. Twould be a real shame.
I don't know about Hatton... if he stays at 140 perhaps he'll have a better chance against the better opposition he'll be facing, but at 147? He didn't really do enough against Collazo to show that he has what it takes.
I hate PBF!!! Anal discharge that one....... if the fight with the past-his-prime De La Hoya happens, which it probably will, he'll have a nice edge and will win, "proving" himself as one of the best. Not fair. Maybe against DLH in his prime, but not now, not like this. Not like this!
