I have a bit of a problem with my install of RTW. I have a few RTW's on my computer (with mods like RTR and Terrae Expugnandae and so on) but I have modded my supposed-to-be-vanilla RTW folder  . So I want to know if I copy my main RTW folder (the one supposed to be vanilla, but I modded) to somewhere else and run the disk's uninstall (and install a clean version), will I still be able to play all my mods (and my own modded version)? :help:

PS: Not sure if this is the right forum...

if you want a fresh install without having to uninstall, put your rome cd in then go to My Computer, then double click the rome disk and click on Setup... it should start a new install again without you having to uninstall

hope i could help,

Well i did try that after you said, but I get the message:
'Are you sure you want to completely remove 'Rome - Total War(TM)' and all of its features?'

What do I do now?

that's strange... it works for me

but in that case, if you want to keep your modded files, find the files you want and copy them, then uninstall then re-install rtw and using JSGME (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=58201) you can activate/unactivate what you've modded and still have the original game there to play... i don't think there is any other way

But what about my other copies with mods on them like RTR? will I be able to play them after re-installation?

I need an answer before I am tempted to uninstall....

as long as the folder is labelled differently (ie not Rome: Total War) then the uninstall doesn't get rid of anything in those folders

Good but Im a little scared uninstalling with other RTW folders (even though renamed) will ruin my computer. My friend said he tried this and now his RTW broke. Has anyone actually done this??

I've done this a few times with varying degrees of success. If the folders you want to keep are re-named and you have one disposable one called 'Rome - Total War' it shouldn't effect the text files etc in the re-named folders.

I did once have problems with it not managing to complete re-install which resulted in nothing working or uninstalling either - but am using XP so reverting to older 'system restore' date got me back to square one (for registry) and uninstall, install worked next time. (I'm sure doing this is actually meant to be foolproof but my computer has always been buggy with RTW.)

If you have a partitioned hard disc or multiple hard discs, I think reinstalling to a different partition letter can sometimes cause the ...RTW's on the other partitions not to run - or require registry fix.

Uhm, you can simply copy your rtw dir, then uninstall bi, then rtw, then reinstall...
Should work like a charm (and you should be able to run the exes from your backed up folder)

I have finally had the courage to try...

I will inform you of the results.

Success! I am as I type experiencing a fine Brutii campaign on v1.0

I have tried a backuped folder and it works too!
