Is it a sure sign of masculinity for a man to have a kewl style of facial hair on them? Should every real man in society have facial hair?

Or should we just have a laser rteatment to never grow facial hair again? :sweatdrop:

I voted Gah, as I would really like some form of facial hair, but, unfortunately, my genes don't permit it.

Everyone should have as much facial hair as he or she wants.

Voted Gah, mainly because I have facial hair when I don't feel like shaving, although I usually shave.

Otherwise, I don't really care, but if I could, I'd make sure the damned stuff never grew on my face again. Ever.

I'm really neutral, some of my friends have some form of facial hair.

Finally hitting puberty, BP. :laugh4:

I've had some sort of facial hair for the last 3 years. Goatee, lazy-scruffy beard, moustache, musketeer-style, just three day's stubble...

Unfortunately, I'm not the type of person who gains a lot from facial hair. For me, it's just a pain to trim. I envy those who have it well, though.

I grew a beard a while back (deer season and all the guys were doing it), didn’t look very good. I have light red hair and the beard grew in really dark red. I do think I look cool with a few days stubble.

I mostly have a messy sort of stubble. I usually shave about every 3 or so days. Cant stand it, it has to be one of the most annoying things in the world. I loath shaving.

Going for the goatee. Just stopped shaving that part of my chin. It won't be long now. :2thumbsup:

When I do have to shave, I usually rather enjoy it-I've never understood the annoyance it causes for some. Lathering up your face, the rasp of razor against skin, it's all very masculine and romantic.

Of course, if I had to do it every day it might get tiresome.

Thats the point, I used to love shaving. It made me feel like I was so grown up. Then I had to do it every few days, and now its gotten to a stage where I really should shave every day. Its hard to describe why exactly I hate this particular grooming aspect, when for instance, I quite enjoy cleaning my teeth, but the act of shaving generally puts me in a bad mood for at least the next 30 minuits.

Yes. Otherwise is vanity, the slippery slope to greed, avarice, sloth and all their deadly brothers. Next thing you know: women will want to vote.

Gah ! Shaving = yet another annoyance. I have enough little things I have to waste time doing every single day. Y'know, you may have something there with that laser treatment thingie...

Voted Gah...
I have a goatee. Its the thing to do once you're out of the military considering I had to be clean shaven for the past 10 years. It kinda chaffs Mrs DD, so she has a love/hate relationship with it if you know what I mean.:eyebrows:

I have a beard like a mad Russian monk. I think it is a requirement of being a hippie. Funny thing is, I never trim it, so it grows out to about an inch or so (it 's curly, so it doesn't grow out too much) but I always keep my scalp hair neatly trimmed at about 1/4". It's my way of mocking the popular look of semi-long hair with stubble (which I consider to be ridiculous-looking. Just grow a damn beard already!)

Never occurred to me, but it's the same with me - I grew my beard on leaving the Army. Had to shave it to a moustache whenever I got recalled for reserve training though. I guess it became a symbol of civilian life.

Mrs Ghost likes it unreservedly though... :bounce:

I'm required to shave every day (being a US Marine,) even though I don't grow facial hair I got in trouble for not shaving one morning.

Even if I could grow a decent amount of facial hair I wouldn't, on the other hand if I was allowed to grow my hair out to a decent length or dye my hair a different color I probably would do so.

Awww the ones you don't get are just downey hair, soon you will be able to chinscour every surface known to man. On topic: facial hair makes endangered species out of PMP's (potential mating partners) which is bad.

I have a perpetual five o'clock shadow. I shave before I go to work, and by 9:30 am its already grown back. The funny thing is, is that I can't grow a beard...gene's won't permit it.

I don't shave, I have a little--I mean a little--what people called, what a weird name, stubble.

I only cut them out when people are like: "hey, man, look at that! Why don't you shave it!" Which, the reason, of course, is sheer laziness. It doesn't make me feel any cooler on or off. Though I have this habit of stroking my chin (and my beard, if I have it) when I'm deep in thought. So it might be cool to have a really long Russian Orthodox beard just to imitate those Chinese movies.

"Yes, Kong Ming, Sima Yi will pay a bloody price for trying to stop us this umpteenth time."

I think one day I'll put Leo Tolstoy and those crazy Indian gurus to shame once and for all with my very much Chinese beard. ~:santa:

I tried to grow a beard once but parts of ginger started to show through and I have black hair, when its stubble its black but if it gets to long it goes ginger.

As the old folksong says:

Al die willen te kaap'ren varen
Moeten mannen met baarden zijn
Jan, Pier, Tjores en Corneel
Die hebben baarden, die hebben baarden
Jan, Pier, Tjores en Corneel
Die hebben baarden, zij varen mee

All who wish to sail to the cape
Must be men with beards
John, Pete, George and Cornelius
They have beards, they have beards
John, Pete, George and Cornelius
They have beards, they sail along

Still though, as that song is about whalers (which I'm not), and a beard itches in the heat of summer (which I hate), I'm gonna stick with sideburns.

Does "facial hair" also include hair that is growing out of your nose?

I hate to shave, really and if I don't do because I don't want to I usualy forget it. I can't grow a full beard yet but when I haven't shaved for a while I have a goatee (spelling?) and some fluffy white sideburns (spelling?). At the moment I haven't shaved myself for a month so I guess I'll have a full beard in the near future or at least stubbles.
I would say Gah! as it is your own choice.

All men have facial hair whether it is shaved or not. It is still there. You even have hair on your forehead.

I've read the question as "Should facial hair be compulsory?", so I voted no, because it's your own choice.
