Well, there it is. Tomorrow marks a new direction for me. Some while ago, I decided to 'down-shift' and to that end, I have spent the last weeks selling off my training business (or more accurately, shifted it over to my business partner).

I'm now returning to my previous work as an ecological consultant and writer. Not so much travel this time, a little more writing and academic work, a lot more time to enjoy the wonderful places I get to visit.

It's been a blast, setting up a company from scratch, seeing it grow: Even though I advise anyone even considering it to give government contracts a wide berth. Civil servants and private enterprise sit very uneasily, even when they want you involved. (Usually they hate every molecule of one's evil capitalist fibre). :wall:

It's given me the wherewithal to go back to what I love. I won't miss the hours though. And the biggest reason of all, my wife and I are planning to start our family at last. Maybe I can finally afford it?! :ballchain:

So, I have indulged my vanity a bit and changed my user name here to a nickname I earned for my rather tedious habit of pointing out the flaws in so-called 'sustainable development' - on both sides of the divide. Perhaps it says too much about me that I am quite proud of the sobriquet.

The .org has been a place of friendship, amusement, interest and enjoyment for me, and I felt I would like to share this bit of news with you lot.

Please come over here and beat up our local so-called Planning Commission; they've thrown that 'sustainable development' phrase around so much the past 2 years, it means absolutely nothing (except maybe: "I'm right, you're wrong, 'cause I have a cooler catch-phrase!").

Congrats on striking out in a new direction. And best of luck with the family thing.
