Like the Civilopedia in the Civ games.

It could have information and history about:
-The factions (advantages, disadvantages, units, great leaders, tactics that an AI using this faction might use, history)
-Provinces (location, special features, history)
-Units (stats, what it is good at, what it is bad at, history)
-Weapons (history)
-Tactics (that the AI will use, how to counter them, history)
-Battles
-Wars
-Game concepts
-People
-Events

And more maybe some more.

Yes, that would be a great idea. It would enrich the game incredibly!

Imagine if as well as a real civolopedia type thing, they had one which followed events of the game, like writing your own history.

The Civilopedia is a brilliant feature of all the Friaxis games. I think CA should include something similar.

Problem with this that M2TW doesn't use years anymore. So it would be:
Otto III emperor of the HRE conquers Venice in the turn 36 of our lord.

That sort of kills the immersion that a encyclopedia should bring.

I agree with that. I think it would have been wise simply to have each turn elapse 6 months, just like RTW. I don't really see what they are gaining by having no dates.

I'd absolutely love an encyclopedia of sorts in M2TW. The Age of Empires series had this, as well as Civilization, which has already been mentioned. As for turns and their represented time, even if each turn doesn't equal exactly 6 months, I'm sure the game's calendar could keep up with how much time has passed and show what year the game is currently in. That doesn't seem hard at all.

Age of Empires had an excellent history section.
My favourite part was the anthem of the factions. ~D
