So I was playing a Saxon campaign in BI late at night and got a little peckish. Great, I think, time to raid the fridge. But then it struck me - a can of Pepsi and a ham sanwich aren't exactly proper food for a rampaging, pagan Saxon warlord such as myself. So then I hit on an idea - eat in character! :idea2:

Since then I've been putting thought into "immerson foods" to suit particular nations and cultures in RTW and BI. What would you eat as a snack to stay in character? Now my waistline may be ballooning but my enjoyment of RTW has increased!

Here are my suggestions for some faction foods. Anyone got any others?

Saxons/other Germans: Bread, cheese or cold beef, pint of bitter
Sassanids/Parthia: Turkish delight, red wine
Romans: lasagne (apparently staple food of the Roman army)
Celts: Haggis, leeks, guinness (bring on the stereotypes)
Sarmatians/Scythians/Huns: milk (ideally would be fermented)
Greeks: Humous!

This is an exqusit topic::laugh4: :shame:

My suggestions:

Iberia: Olives, Serano, White Bread, Wine
Gauls: Baguette, Oysters, Cheese, Wine
Germans: Sausages, Bread, BEEEEEEERRRRRR!
Skythians: the food will go fine with some of the herbs these fellows liked to smoke for religious/cultural reasons (as Herodot said)

Paella for the Spanish.
Cous-cous for Numidia.
Rack of lamb for Macedon.
Pork chops with red wine for Thrace.

All this thinking is making me houngrey!

Hehe, nice idea. I'd just play as Sassassids constantly so I could eat Turkish Delight.

Carthiginians: babies! Yeuchk!! Do Tesco have this?! (maybe its just Roman propaganda...)

The romans will have to stick with their field mice since pasta is chinese and wont be in Italy until Marco Polo rips it off!

Spain - Have Tapas (any small dishes of some vegetable or else something fishy like mussels with some delicious sauce) with olives, tomatoes, chorizo (spicy sausage - much tastier than salami), Serrano ham (ham cured in the highland regions of southern Spain) and bread! Lots and lots of bread. Have potatoes with a spicy sauce called Mojo (pronouces "moho" with a harsh sounding "H" like you're tryin to drink whiskey at the same time your saying it). Half plenty of fish - the Spaniards can't get enough fish! Make paella with everything edible that comes from the sea and lots of rice. Drink everything with plenty of wine. Preferably that of Andalucia. Make sure all produce is from southern spain (known as the "Garden of Europe" or something because of its fertility). Ensure to be constantly kicking a football (soccerball) throughout the meal. It will add the essential Spaniard touch. Occasionally kick the ball forlornly in the direction of two subtly placed rocks and then, placing your shirt over your face, casually scream "Gol!!!" running towards the crowd, which will inevitably consist of a rather perplexed lizard wondering if the fly feeding off the smears of Mojo on your trousers is going to come his way and provide a snack.

Roman - again lots of bread (probably even more than Spain put all kinds of things on the bread, and you've got primitive pizza) lots of olives and olive oil (put olive oil on everything you possibly can - even your drink). Eat all sorts of meat (particularly poultry, go slow on the mutton) and eat the intestines, stomach, heart, brain (amazing but true), kidneys and liver of the cows and pigs. Eat plenty of exotic looking fruits with your meal (the Romans engaged in Commerce with practically the whole world - Roman coins have been found all over america and India). Put tomatoes and tomato sauce (not ketchup!) on everything you eat. Also make sure there is rock salt on everything. A delightful Roman snack is tomatoes cut in half with rock salt put on top of them and then roast them. To add the essential local touch, make your own toga and laurel wreaths and do the same for the nearest horse. Threaten everyone you meet, saying "my legions shall have your houses burned, your sons enslaved, your wives crucified and your throat cut." If they protest further behead them with your Gladius (if you dont have one a kitchen spoon substitues just fine).

-Germany. Drink beer. Keep drinking beer until your not able to read the rest of this guide, because there isn't one.

-Britannia. Eat Fish and Chips. Act like a chav.

-Scythia. Vodka! See guide for Germans.

-I can't be bothered writing anything else because I don't know enough about their cultures.
