A worthy observation, except for two facts:
-You didn't see your killer at all, and vice versa.
-Zalmoxis was murdered, thus making him NOT a mafioso (yes, mafiosi are not allowed to kill each other).

The Frontroom was quickly progressing from a peaceful village to... a bunch of abandoned buildings. Few townspeople remained.
Despite this, Chief of Police Beirut was still willing to execute a villager to bring them to justice. And the sacrifice this time was Ice. Although he did not look too pleased when his fate became clear, he wasn't as scared as BKS was. Clearly he had not had as much exposure to the Crazy Frog song.
However, as everyone came nearer to the execution room, Ice grew visibly more nervous. However, his nerves took a different route.
"I was framed!" he yelled. "Do you think I would really be that stupid to kill Disco RIGHT AFTER he went ballistic after I lived after the last session?" Even Beirut looked sadly at Ice.
"You're probably right, but it's the will of the people that matters. And the people say you did it. Into the execution room with you." And so the same procedure occured as did with BKS. The door shut, the music played, and a horrific scream emerged from the room. Again everyone left, but as they opened the door outside they found a note on the other side. Beirut looked and read it in horror:
To the Frontroom:
So many have died by our hand. There were the deaths that I concocted, and the executions that you performed in vain. Are we really so different? After all, we have both killed many innocent people...
Since Ice has just been executed we are now down to six. I am preparing a grand plan to finish the rest of you off. It would do well for you to be on the lookout for treachery, since there is no point in trying to evade me. Muahahahahaha!
Everyone stood in shock for a couple of seconds. Then Beirut started calling: "Ice! Ice! What does he know about this?!" The Chief of Police ran to the execution room to find Ice dead. He had cracked already.
"Gentlemen," Beirut said. "...be prepared. The next couple of days will be rough."

Hiji, back from the dead as a zombie, runs frantically through the village moaning "Kenshin." Fortunatly for the town, they were already all skilled in the art of zombie defense. A quick headshot from Ice solved the problem.

I vote Kagemusha.
He is a mafioso. All the evidence points towards him. I am absolutely sure of it. We need to take him out this round if the villagers are to triumph.
There are 6 people left. If there are two mobsters, that means the remaining one (Whom I think may be Shadows) will take out 2 villagers after Kagemusha is offed - leaving 3 people; two villagers and a mobster.

Day breaks in the Frontroom. All is quiet. The place was literally turning into a ghost town. There were, however, still some live inhabitants, desperate to save their little village.
Six were left. Six. Crazed Rabbit kept repeating that number to himself. Six. Six. It was obvious that at least one, possibly two, were not innocent. He just had to find the guilty one(s). While doing some research, he constantly moved around, aware of what happened to littlelostboy.
Rabbit was neuther overly paranoid nor too engrossed in his research. He was calm and focused, with enough energy on both the task at hand and making sure that he stayed alive. After all, if he was correct, the killer(s) could come at any minute for him...
Six left. If Rabbit didn't do something soon that number would go even lower. He had to figure out who did it, and go to Chief of Police Beirut. While he originally said out loud to the villagers that Kagemusha was the mafioso, he wanted absolute proof.
He had stayed in the building for too long. Since most of them were abandoned, Rabbit had no trouble moving around the village. However, he was getting too focused on the task (Instead of looking out for himself, he kept thinking "six left"). Somebody was watching him. And he was ready to strike once Rabbit left. CR gathered up his notes, and headed out the door across the street. That's where he heard it.
A souped-up steamroller was headed straight for him. Panicking, Rabbit changed direction and tried to outrun the steamroller. He had to get to the police station. If he did, it would be victory. This task would have been easily accomplished if he was trying to outrun a normal steamroller, but the mafioso had made some adjustments to the engine. As a result, Rabbit had to improvise.
"Six left, six left," he kept repeating to himself as he continued running. "Why on earth are there no sidewalks here?!?!?!" He could cut corners faster than the mafioso could, but he was dead meat on straightaways. Luckily for him, so far he had mostly been taking corners.
"Almost there, almost there. Just one more turn and I'm on Main Street. The steamroller's falling behind. All I have to do is reach the end of Main Street and I'm at the police station. Six left. It'll stay that way." Rabbit rounded the corner and there was Main Street... a long, straight street with the Police Station in the distance.
Rabbit ran as fast he could, though he was already somewhat fatigued. He could hear the steamroller's engine getting louder behind him. "Six left, six left. Almost... there... Almost... there..."
"I have you now!" screamed the mafioso, and prepared to jam the gas to crush Rabbit forever. However, at the last second, someone appeared that made him hesitate.
"Uesugi Kenshin!" cried Rabbit at the sight of him. "The mafioso is in the steamroller! We've got to get to the police station!" Kenshin nodded and started running. However, a shot was then fired. Nobody knew exactly where it came from. But the next thing anybody knew, Kenshin was on the ground and it was only Rabbit.
Completely exhausted and demoralized, Rabbit gave up after the death of Kenshin. His last thought before getting steamrolled into oblivion was "Five left... wait... four..." His papers were completely illegible. Like littlelostboy's, his research was gone.
The mafioso got out of the steamroller, cleaned off any evidence that he had been there, and smirked. "And that Death Star analogy was going so well, too." He then walked off.
Some time later, Chief of Police Beirut discovered the bodies. He gasped, and realized what had happened. He then went to each remaining villager's house, rounded them up, took them to the central square, and tied them up. He then made an announcement.
"Gentlemen," he began, "Two more have died today. Right in front of my police station. This is unacceptable. I am ending this right now." The villagers could see he was brandishing an axe. "Today... there will be a DOUBLE EXECUTION. Each of you are to vote for two people, and when all four of you have voted, we will see which two have the most votes and execute them both. This ends here."
And so we are down to four. Congrats to Alexanderofmacedon, Shadows, Kagemusha, and Divine Wind. You have eluded the mafia and the mob. But can you elude each other? Get voting, you four.

[Crushed by a steamroller! A humiliating death for a rabbit. At least it was a souped up steamroller. On another note, it speaks to the severe depopulation of the town that a steamroller chase could leave no witnesses.]
That day, after CR's tragic death, a whisper on the wind could be heard. The words drifted in and out, like a far off, though vivid, scent, but the message was clear...
Beware, ye mobsters!
All the land has eyes; the eyes of my kin, in each bush, under each tree, in each clump of grass. They will watch and wait until vengence is theirs!

I've been making a tally of how people have been killed:
Shot by mafia
Dutch_guy
diablodelmar
wonderland
Bar Kochba
Zalmoxis
Uesugi Kenshin
Tiberius (Killed in a JFK style, in front of everyone, yet no one saw who.)
Required killing twice
SSNeoperestroika - Poisoned by sandwhich and shot
Crateru - knock unconscious by microwave explosive and suffocated by ramen being stuffed in his nose and mouth (one of the wierdest killing methods also).
Pushed off from cliffs
Hiji
Discovery1 - Was trapped in his own car.
Strangled
Ultrawar - Only person to suffer this tormenting and slow death.
Slain by mafia-implanted explosives
Me (littlelostboy)
Souped-up steamroller
Crazed Rabbit (The weirdest death ever, and in front of the police office!)
The favourite method of execution seems to be shooting people.

Hmm...my thoughts seem to point towards Shadows and Kagemusha.
Many times the finger has pointed at them, but certain influences have swayed doubt towards other members, thus saving their skin. Surely this is the work of the Mafia.

Ah! My thoughts exactly. Kagemusha has been far too quiet this entire time. Shadows seems to be the mafioso type.
I'm going with Kagemusha and Shadows.
I vote for Alexander of Macedon and Divine Wind. now this is going to put us in quite a pickel. I've just realized who everyone has chosen and it looks like everyone still alive has gotten two votes. Now General Hanky how are we going to solve this one??:wall:

Sunset.
Chief of Police Beirut had groaned in agony. The votes were split evenly between all four suspects. Things were deadlocked.
"I want to save the Frontroom, but executing all four people in order to make sure isn't my idea of saving it. I don't want to leave it to luck. And I have absolutely no confidence in my own decision-making ability whatsoever. What I need is some sort of tiebreaker who is willing to make a decision they can stick with."
...
Time passed by and Beirut thought and thought. The suspects were moaning for food, water, and trips to the bathroom but he ignored them. Finally, someone called out:
"Just a little water? We're dying over here!"
Dying over here.
That was it. Seconds later Beirut was on the phone.
"Madame Olympia's fortune-telling, how may I help you?"
"Hi, do you do communication with the dead?"
"Why, yes I do. Would you like to schedule an appointment?"
"No appointment. Just get over to the Frontroom police station right away, I need your assistance."
"I'm sorry, I don't do house calls, especially not without an appointment. And isn't the Frontroom that place where-"
"JUST GET OVER HERE, WOMAN! OR I SHALL PLACE YOU UNDER ARREST FOR OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE!" Madame Olympia sighed, and agreed. Fifteen minutes later she and Beirut were talking face-to-face.
"Now, as you probably know, there have been a series of deaths in our village lately, decimating its population to the point of non-existance. So far the mystery has been unsolvable, but I figured that you could call the dead and they'd say who did it." The Chief of Police was twitching from the stress of the past few weeks.
"Ok, how many dead are we talking about here? And I'll need some basic information about them." Madame Olympia looked slightly worried.
"Well, we have Mithrandir, UltraWar, Wonderland, Alexander the Pretty Good, Dutch_guy, diablodelmar, Lemur, Hiji, SSNeoperestroika, Peasant Phill, Craterus, Tiberius, Lehesu, Bar Kochba, Zalmoxis, Big King Sanctaphrax, littlelostboy, discovery1, Ice, Crazed Rabbit, and Uesugi Kenshin. So that would make a grand total of 21. That tough enough for you?" The question was rehtorical, and Madame Olympia knew it.
"Well, I can try..." She started humming and making strange movements with her hands. After a couple of minutes, she collapsed from exhaustion. However, the ghosts of all the dead appeared. Beirut cheered in delight.
"Gentlemen," he said with a grin, "it's been a while. You guys need to do something for me. Some of you might have seen who killed me. If you could please vote for two people, I'd appreciate it."
"And why should we help you?" asked Peasant Phill. "You executed some of us."
"You know what," said Beirut. "Because justice should always prevail. If you weren't a mafioso, I'm truly sorry. But I need you to do this... for the good of the Frontroom."
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just to clarify, anyone who has been killed, executed, or left by their own accord can now vote. Keep in mind you are voting for two of the final four: AlexanderofMacedon, Shadows, Kagemusha, and Divine Wind. Voting will close in a little over 24 hours so get to it!
As Lehesu droned on about soy and revenge, Chief of Police Beirut proceeded to wake up Madame Olympia, thanked her, and ordered her to get rid of those ghosts. They all disappeared, cutting off the Lord of Soy in mid-sentence. Madame Olympia then left the station. She witnessed nothing.
Beirut now turned to the four people tied up. He released Divine Wind and Kagemusha, fed them each a couple of donuts, and asked them to stay for the executions. Both agreed. He then faced the condemmed.
"Gentlemen," he began, "Before you die I think you are entitled to a last meal. I have it prepared for you in the next room. Hurry on over now." Alexanderofmacedon and Shadows looked at each other nervously and followed Beirut. But as they looked at the table in the next room, they gasped.
A meal beyond their wildest dreams had been prepared. Everything from sandwiches and carrots, to more "exotic" foods such as Ramen, caviar, and boiled rabbit, to homegrown crops like soy and wheat was waiting. The two hungrily dug in as Beirut watched.
Seconds later, they were slumped in their chairs. Beirut had poisoned it all. He returned and addressed Kagemusha and Divine Wind.
"Well you two, it's been a long couple of weeks. You can go home now. Hopefully it's all over. I hope."
Day breaks in the Frontroom. All is quiet.
The final two villagers left, Divine Wind and Kagemusha, met in the town's center square. The meeting was just unplanned, it just kind of happened. But they waved to each other and started talking.
"So. That was some vote last night, huh?" Divine Wind took a brave stab at starting a conversation. Kage took it in stride, however.
"Easy for you to say, Mister I-only-got-three-votes."
DW laughed at this. "We need to bring in some women from the Babe Thread to repopulate this place." Kage just chuckled and DW went on. "Hey... I know we both voted for each other, but I'm sorry about that. What's important now is that the mafiosi were executed. It's just us now."
Kage nodded. "And I'm sorry I voted for you too. I just felt like I needed to protect myself.
"I really thought you were a mafioso but you changed my mind. Come on, let's go get some beers."
"Yeah, but we'll have to pour 'em ourselves." They both laughed and headed out of the town square.
After a few seconds, however, Divine Wind stopped walking. There was no real explanation for this, aside from the fact that Kagemusha had taken out a giant katana and was looking threateningly at him.
DW turned around. "Wha- wha-?"
"You were right the first time." In one big slice, Kagemusha, a mafioso, then proceeded to separate DW's head from his body. Dumbfounded, he never had a chance. Kage then wiped off his katana and continued talking as he walked away.
"You almost had me. All four of you innocents pegged me and Shadows -correctly, too- as mafiosi. But it still wasn't enough. The dead were stupid enough not to take your advice and take down Alexanderofmacedon instead. I admit it got a little hairy for a minute there, but this was still the easiest assignment I've ever had. See you losers in the next life."
Some time later, Chief of Police Beirut came upon the body of Divine Wind. Seeing a souped-up steamroller driving off in the distance, he realized that the Kingdom of Peace and Love was no more.
I originally thought there would be four but when I saw the number of people playing I realized that it would be much fairer if there were two.
Great, well I have to congratulate you on a superb role-playing thread and what looks to have been a brilliant game. The write-ups were very good, well done GeneralHankerchief!
Yeah, so, another mafia game? That would be great, considering all the people who were left out.
Here are two things that I feel would make the next game more interesting:
1. Players would be able to send a PM to GeneralHankerchief saying exactly why they should be a mafiosi. GeneralHankerchief would then choose the best ones and use them as the mafia. This way, we can suspect a) who is the most eager and b) who can write the best persuasive argument etc. etc.
2. Players should get to choose how they kill their targets, too. This way it is more strategic for the mafia but the people have to be more deductive (death by overdose of soy sauce: "Lehesu?" "Surely, it can't be." "He must have been framed!" "Maybe that's what he wants us to think!" etc. etc.)
I think these would both make the game more interesting.
Interesting ideas.
Not too sure about 1, but I'm definitely thinking about implanting 2. It's sort of already happened- Kage requested DW be killed with a katana.
If you have not read the final report of what happened between Divine Wind and Kagemusha please go back a page to see. For those who have: I present my write-up (long).
What now follows is a rundown of the entire game from my (the game organizer and overseer) point of view. I’ve been itching to post this for a while, especially after the events near the end. This post is long, but informative if you wish to know exactly how the game went. For the most part, I held off with the commentary on your reactions/kills/votes, but I have it all here.
After I closed the game to any new participants, I determined that there would be 2 mafiosi and one execution per session, in order to give both sides an equal chance. While I was hoping for more players, I realized that that having four people in the mafia would end the game pretty quickly. :hide: After writing each player’s post number down, I put them all into a hat. Out came 18 and 5, the numbers corresponding to Kagemusha and Shadows. I had my mafia. Immediately Mithrandir committed seppuku, perhaps not wanting to be a redshirt like some of the other mods mentioned.
It was now time for the kills. I admit I was expecting BKS to go, but when I received the PMs I was surprised. Shadows in many of his PMs gave a reason for the killing. He selected UltraWar, saying that the two knew each other and that UW would probably suspect him. Kagemusha chose Wonderland and gave no comment. The villagers then proceeded to execute Alexander the Pretty Good. Around this time Discovery1 began his persecution of Ice, in what would produce some hilarious quotes.
Ideally, I wanted the first Mafioso to be executed around the time when about half the original players were still alive. However, Shadows placed himself in grave danger by selecting Dutch_guy, who had named him in the first session of voting. Kagemusha picked diablodelmar and gave no reason, as usual. The villagers picked up on Dutch_guy’s murder, as well as Shadows’ suspicious-sounding name, and went after him. He escaped by only one vote, with Lemur as the sacrificial lamb (Hate to tell you Lemur, but your post asking whether anyone had any strategies probably doomed you).
Shadows wised up and instead of selecting somebody who had named him in the last round, went with a safe pick and went after SSNeoperestroika. Kagemusha selected Hiji. However, Shadows’ safe pick didn’t seem to be enough, since he was still in danger of being executed. This was one of the several times that to two mafiosi aligned in order to save themselves. Shadows again escaped by one vote, setting up a revote between Lehesu and Peasant Phill (Phill, my apologies for spelling it with one L in the game :oops:). Phill got executed 7-6.
Kagemusha was in a pretty good position right now, having not been suspected at all. He picked Craterus to go in the next round. Shadows still had to be careful, however, and selected Tiberius. Because one mafioso was getting off clean and another was barely getting off at all, I tried to make their kills reflect that. Up until Crazed Rabbit named him in Session 6, Kage had a very stealthy way of killing his victims. This was in contrast with Shadows’ style, which was more out in the open. Poor Lehesu was unanimously executed, making Shadows the living person with the most votes. Since he got off clean in the last session, I was expecting Session 5 to be wide open, much like Sessions 1 and 2 were.
However, here began a streak of sessions that were probably influenced by comments (including mine) and marred by stoppages, including headaches and revotes. First, King Henry V posted what I had been thinking for a while now: How the heck was BKS still in this? When Bar Kochba (Shadows) and Zalmoxis (Kagemusha, after a long wait. –I was half-telling the truth about the big headache in order to cover for him) were the next to die, people immediately started naming BKS as the killer (By the way guys, BKS did accuse a few people in the beginning). However, thanks to Discovery1, people soon started naming Ice and it was a 4-4 tie (Also by the way, a reason for naming Ice is that he wasn’t that active, but if anyone bothered to check his user profile they would have seen that he hadn’t been on for ten days, thus proving him innocent). During the original tiebreaker of “whoever hasn’t voted yet vote now, first one wins” I figured that since BKS had mod duties, Ice was wherever, and Rythmic was currently dealing with a family situation in real life nobody else would vote so I re-opened voting up to everybody. Alexanderofmacedon cast the deciding vote for BKS, and the long Session 5 was over.
After discovery1 had made a beautiful rant about Ice still being alive, I made the mistake of finally commenting on the game. Mainly, Disco probably showed everyone that Ice was innocent because he himself was still alive. Shadows capitalized on that, explaining to me in his kill selection of Disco:
it appears to me that Ice will most likely garner the blame, so discoovery1 is my next victim.
Meanwhile, Kagemusha picked littlelostboy, in a selection that was widely ignored by everybody thanks to the death of Disco. Some people (Crazed Rabbit and Uesugi Kenshin) had him pegged as Disco’s killer, but they were only half-right. Anyway, it was all moot since Ice was sent to the execution room. It was at this point where I decided to shake things up a bit, since there were six people left (thanks to Rythmic asking me to leave him out, which I agreed) and two of them were in the mafia. The “note” in Ice’s execution post was just there for dramatic effect. However, the “master plan” part was based off of a couple of PMs Kagemusha sent me when it became clear that he would get by.
It seems i will barely survive.But it also seems that after Ice is gone and we put two Orgahs out of their misery with Shadows there are only two Villagers and two Mafiosos left in the game.
Here is my devious plan for the end game.I havent got yet confirmation from Shadows that he agrees but i sure hope so.
If i survive this round like it looks like.Lets Kill Grazed Rabbit and Uesugi Kenshin and blame AlexanderofMacedon.That way we will win the game and stay alive both.What do you think?
While he left out Divine Wind, the plan was still flawless. I, however, didn’t want the game’s finish to be that anticlimactic, so I started manipulating things a little bit in order to achieve an exciting end. First I decided that the next execution would be a double execution, in order to give the villagers a chance. Nobody would be aware of this until I publicly made the announcement. Then, I PM’d the remaining four innocent players, one-by-one (I think you can’t see who the other recipients are in a mass PM but I wanted to make sure), and made them do a little detective work.
Do not reply to this message. Do not mention this message to anyone, anywhere. In it contains clues for the identity of the remaining mafia players. Yes, there are still two left. But the tables are about to be turned.
-Four of you are innocents.
-One of you did not vote in Session 1.
-You four votes were split in two ways in Session 2.
-Only one of you voted for Peasant Phill in Session 3 (non-tiebreaker). None of the four of your votes were for a mafioso in the same session, however a mafioso did receive at least one vote during that session.
-Two of you voted for both people who were eventually executed in the last two sessions.
-The other two of you were the only two who voted for both mafiosi at some point in the game.
-One of you voted for Zalmoxis before he was killed.
Use this information wisely, and the Frontroom may yet be saved. I have one more surprise in store. Once again, please do not reply to or mention this message at all. Thanks.
General Hankerchief
With a little snooping the previous pages of the thread (as well as putting some things together, I didn’t want to make it that easy), our four innocents could figure out who else was innocent, thus leading them, by process of elimination, to the two killers. The mafia knew nothing about this. For the first time in the entire game, Kagemusha and Shadows were in the dark.
I was on when Crazed Rabbit got his copy of the PM. Judging by how his “last activity” was on the Mafia board (the times even kept being updated!) for at least half an hour he was taking it seriously. Also judging by post #263, where he passionately called for the execution of Kage (and also he said he thought Shadows was the other one) it was time well spent. However, Rabbit couldn’t actually vote in that round, seeing as he was killed by Kagemusha (He and Uesugi Kenshin, who was killed by Shadows, were the only two people to have voted for Kage in the entire game). This is when I dropped the bomb about the double execution. Surprisingly, everyone took it in stride. I didn’t even get a hint of a complaint from either of the mafia.
Then something happened that I figured would but hoped it wouldn’t. Four-way tie. The mafia, of course, stuck together and the two innocents successfully deducted who the mafiosi were. I realized that a revote would be useless, and didn’t want Beirut, who wasn’t even playing, to cast the deciding votes. In the show Survivor, when there are two people left and one has to be the winner, the host brings out those who were previously voted off to determine the winner. I eventually came to the conclusion that this is what I had to do, and thus, I brought back the dead for one last vote. Surprisingly, it was pretty tight. After Rabbit and Kenshin conveniently both died after naming Kagemusha, I figured that the dead would heed Rabbit’s advice and take out Kage and Shadows by a large margin. However, the vote was split three ways, between the mafiosi and Alexanderofmacedon (Divine Wind only received one vote aside from the mafia’s). In the end Shadows was finally executed but Kage somehow survived, having Alexanderofmacedon executed instead of him.
Finally, it was over. I posted the last kill (Divine Wind, beheaded by a katana as Kage requested) and the final list.
I’d like to thank everyone who showed an interest in the game, whether it be by participating or whether you came later and just showed support. You guys (and some hilarious quotes) made it the way it was. I’d also like to thank our mafia, Shadows and Kagemusha for always being present. If I had selected someone like Bar Kochba, who got teh ban shortly after the game started and never once posted again, or Ice, who mysteriously disappeared halfway through, the game pretty much would have died. This mafia was devious, collaborating together on kills and votes, as well as active. If it wasn’t for my meddling near the end they might have swept, claiming a total victory.
As previously stated, I’m going to take a couple of days off before I start a second game. Anyone interested can post in the new thread when the time comes. I had fun with this, and I hope you all had fun too. Thanks.
Oh and thanks for the death by Katana.
First off, a very hearty congrats and thanks to GeneralHankerchief, for a most interesting and awesome time.
And, a somewhat reluctant congrats to Kagemusha. Personally, I thought that after I got killed after naming you, and after going after you full throttle with that one post, people would definately get you, if not shadows. Alas Lehesu, that vindicative King of Soy, had to go and ruin it all (along with a bunch of other dead people!). (Poor AoM)
But even with my posts urging your execution, you survived. I will confess, when I named you as mafia after Rythmic dropped out, I was pretty much just shootting in the wind. But then I got the PM, and immediately devoted myself to solving it.
Mister Kagemusha,
I believe you now owe the Backroom, Kingdom of War and Love, an outstanding sum of $1,000.00 for all the weapons and ammunition purchased over the last week or so. Thank you for your time, and we hope to do business again.
Day breaks in the Frontroom. All is quiet.
