(CNN) -- An Islamic militia accused of having ties to al Qaeda claims it has seized control of Somalia's capital Mogadishu after some of the worst fighting seen since the government collapsed in 1991.

Africa is always good for a laugh..... nope this is not good at all. But what can you do? I don't think Africa will ever be stable so let's see who's left in a year or 10 and invite those over for tea. Nothing else helped so far.

Above military intervention? A ressounding yes. Let them sort it out themselves and set up some camps at the borders for the refugees. I'll donate some money for food and medicine and be done with it, screw that hellhole.

I sort of thought taht it was already under the power of Islamic warlords since the early 90s. As much as I dislike the idea of another country based on religous extremism if these warlords are able to bring some kind of true goverment to Somalia so be it. I just hope they don't turn into another Taliban style goverment and that Al Queda doesn't get too much power there.

The somalians have been muslim since their last king converted to islam somewhere in 600 AD.

The title should be rejigged to say "somalian warlords under the guise of Islam take over Mogadishu". Why would they be able to take over the city then? becuase anything having to do with Islam in somalia gets support.

I didn’t figure there was much possibility for a Blackhawk Down Part 2.

The country of Somalia is almost defined by the wasteland that no bordering country has attempted to annex.

As far as I am aware, there has been no central government there for years (rather like Afghanistan, except there's more outside help propping up that one). So a new warlord has pinched the city? Well I doubt much will change.

Britain found it worth the effort to annex.

Surely you mean Italy? And when they got round to Empire there wasn't much else left.
