As a so-called conservative from the UK, I have to say I am sometimes alarmed at the antics of some of the US conservatives. What do we have in common?

I have to say, not a lot.

The socialists seem to present a united front...or do they? Do they also suffer from this cultural schism?

Paint with too broad a brush and you eliminate all the details.

Left vs Right is about as useful for clarity as using a sledgehammer is for dental surgery.

In general we as a nation are far move left wing than the US.
All you have to do is take part in a political quiz to see that. I generally find myself scoring the same type of marks as our US friends. Most people in the UK seem more middle of the road, but only slightly learning either Left or RIght
