I'm changing the model of my generals.

I've picked an archer model to use 'cos it looks cool, but as he'll be attached to a melee unit, I want him to use his sword (secondary weapon) instead of the bow (primary weapon). I've alpha-ed out the bow in his texture, and changed his animation to a swordsman one, but in battle he still has no sword, he's just puching the enemy.

How do I get him to use his secondary weapon (sword) instead?

I'm not an expert, but I think that this change requires 3ds max editing.

In the .cas model, weapons are named primary and secondary weapon. Thus the sword (secondary) will never be shown when primary weapon is used. :shame:

If you haven't 3ds max, better look for a model with sword as primary weapon and edit its texture to make your general.

Monkwarrior is right. Any unit that has two weapons has two different weapons modelled with the rest of the unit. One called primary weapon and the other secondary weapon. So in this case you have to delete the primary weapon and rename the secondary one for it to work.
