By offering Iran nuke technology! :idea2:

Now if Iran accepts the entire pointless issue of going to war with yet another country will be over.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13165152/

TEHRAN, Iran - Iran and the United States had a rare moment of agreement Tuesday, using similar language to describe “positive steps” toward an accord on a package of incentives aimed at persuading Tehran to suspend uranium enrichment.

Diplomats said the incentives include a previously undisclosed offer of some U.S. nuclear technology on top of European help in building light-water nuclear reactors. Other incentives include allowing Iran to buy spare airplane parts and support for joining the World Trade Organization.

Tehran is under intense international pressure to accept the deal in exchange for putting on hold a uranium enrichment program that the West fears could lead to the creation of nuclear weapons.

Iran’s top nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani, said the proposals had “positive steps” but that talks were needed to clear up ambiguities. Iran promised to study the proposals seriously but gave no timeframe for a response.

And Bush, using the same language, said Iran’s initial response “sounds like a positive step.”

“We will see if the Iranians take our offer seriously,” the president said in Laredo, Texas. “The choice is theirs to make. I have said the United States will come and sit down at the table with them so long as they are willing to suspend their enrichment in a verifiable way.”

They are swimming in oil, why would they need it. I don't thrust them one bit, usa is starting to look like the UN.

Because they don't have much in the way of oil processing capacity?

or maybe for bombs.

Sounds like very hopeful improvements in negotiation on both sides. Let's hope it goes well!

If the US supplies Iran with nuclear technology, it becomes politically difficult to justify an attack on Iran in the future on those grounds. It's all about security, and the Neocons' boneheaded sabre-rattling and ignoring of international norms. By rattling their own sabre while remaining strictly within international agreements, the Iranians have got what they wanted, which is security against attack by the US, plus a bonus package of other concessions (they're still adding to the list, knowing they've effectively been given a carte blanche). People may wish to argue if the Bush administration has been good for the US or for the world, but it's certainly been good for Iran.

They want to sell the oil, and use nuclear power. More cost efficient and very very profitable in the long run.

Especially considering the fact that in 50 years THERE WILL BE NO OIL LEFT. This is not superstition or rant. It is scientifically proven that if we use oil at the rate we are now we will have no oil by 2050. Chances are it will be sooner as we will most likely increase in the amount of oil the world consumes.

I think we should get our stuff together and just get the heck out of the middle eat. Jesus maybe that’s why they hate us so much? I would to if my kid died from a bomb with USA written on the side of it. We are the moral offenders here not them. We can say we are "freeing them" but to them its just a trade of from one bad leadership to another. Look around the world very few have good leadership it's just the way the world works. We are only using it as an excuse. I say we just get the hell out of there and stopping giving a damn about anything that happens there.

We are there for the oil and in a few instances to fight terrorism. Any other reason is secondary.

On topic though. I don't think they will accept the proposal. The Iranians have made it clear that they will accept no deal that makes them stop suspending uranium. The US has made it clear it will only work with them once they stop suspending. Eh...

Lion_Pariya, I am not a moderator, but I suggest you remove the "adult" word from your post as it is against the rules around here.

Frustration can be expressed eloquently without resorting to cussing.

This breakthrough is surprising indeed, and for the better. But I hope the idiots in the government know what techs they are going to give, especially now that Iran has basically gotten the clean sheet to write a long list of demands on.

Pannonian, got it right - but, I don't believe it is a clean sheet or allows for open demands from Iran. It does, however, force Iran into a possition of compliance with the UN sanctions concerning nuclear development, or face economic sanctions from even their good buds in China and Russia (er, maybe).

I seriously doubt the Iran leadership will comply, believing their "oil card" as being the only trump they need to encourage some States (atleast China) to ignore what ever sanctions maybe applied.

Further, it is only a win for Iran if they cease their uranium enrichment program, and allow UN inspectors into "all" their nuclear facilities. Sound at all familiar? [reference UN sanctions imposed on Iraq - prior to US invasion]

“their "oil card": Pew, I spit on it. It is a promise, in 3 years, all the petrol stations in France will be equipped with Bio-carburant. A least it what said the French Minister in charge. And he even show a new Peugeot equipped with an engine which can use (and recognises then adapts) both petrol and the new bio-thing.
NOW the question is why did “they” wait so long to build this car and to show this engine?
Good new for the farmers from all countries. They will be part of the Future of oil companies. Euh, is it a good news?:inquisitive:

I will wait to by a new car, I can use buses, tram and I go by foot to work, anyway.:laugh4:

A local barber shop installed a new robotic barber to take some off the
pressure off the owner. A fellow came in for a haircut and after being told
about the "new barber" decided he would give it a try.
As the robot began to cut his hair, it asked the man, "What's your IQ?" The
man replied, "140." So the robot proceeded to make conversation about
physics, astronomy, investments, insurance, and so on. The man listened
intently and said "This is really cool."

Later another man who was waiting for a haircut stepped up to the robot's
chair, sat down and the robot asked him before beginning his haircut,
"What's your IQ?" The man replied "100." So the robot started talking about
football, baseball, and so on. This man too thought to himself "Wow! This
is really cool."

Next, a third man stepped up to the robot's chair, seated himself and the
robot, as with the others, asked him "What's your IQ?" The man replied "30."

The robot then said, "Shame Bush can't run again, eh?"

Never! It isn't possible! The U.S. is the most evil nation in the history of the world. A modern day Roman empire led by Nero or Caligula!

Things were getting a bit too close to an actual agreement that would avert war, so Bush and co have decided to hot things up again. No guarantees against US aggression, an unrealistically tight deadline, changed criteria, it's Iraq all over again. The badges for Jews story was exposed as a fake a bit quicker than expected thanks to investigative bloggers, but expect another demonising campaign and equation of the President with America (and hence disagreement with lack of patriotism). Are there elections coming up?

Mr Bolton, who describes himself as “not much a carrots man”, was quick to play down expectations of a dramatic breakthrough and highlighted many of the problems facing the diplomatic process.

“It would be a mistake to think these negotiations are a first step towards some kind of grand bargain [involving US recognition],” he said. “We are only addressing the nuclear issue and stopping their pursuit of nuclear weapons.”

He said US security guarantees for Iran were “not on the table”, and argued instead that regime change could remove a nuclear threat: “Our experience has been that when there is a dramatic change in the life of a country, that’s the most likely point at which they give up nuclear weapons.”

Mr Bolton also voiced doubts that International Atomic Energy Agency inspections would be able to prove that Iran’s programme was purely peaceful, and said that sanctions against Iran if it declined the offer were “a step in the process”. But he also conceded that he could not predict whether the Security Council would back such a measure.

CAMP DAVID, Maryland (Reuters) - President George W. Bush said on Friday that Iran has "weeks not months" to respond to a U.S.-backed offer aimed at containing Iran's nuclear ambitions and said Tehran needs to suspend uranium enrichment.

At a joint news conference with Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Bush said that if Iran does not suspend enrichment, "there must be a consequence."

All I can say is, keep Britain out of it this time.

All I can say is, well George my boy, feel free to just go on over there and punch the Iranian President right in his mouth if you're feelin' froggy. Just don't ask me to come along. I never lost anything in Iran, and I hope to never find anything there either. It is not even on my top ten list of countries that I must visit before I die. If you are feelin' lonesome, take that Zalmy Khalazied fella with you for back up. (Talk about your outsourcing, there is one foreign national on the payroll for you) :afghanistan: Have a real nice time, and take Dick with you too.

There is one rock fight that I'd rather not attend. :rifle:
