Does anyone know if MTW 2 is going to have the execute order likehtey did in the first one. I liked that feature in MTW because if you were strapped for cash you could make a quick florin. But I did enjoy butchering those cowards at the end of battle and get the nasty little titles for it. So, do you guys want this option back or no?

PS, I have the most posts out of all junior members, I'm am your king!!!:2thumbsup: ~:joker:

Well the majority of the users - in particular the former MTW users - would love to have this feature back, and, though don't quote me on this, I thought someone comfirmed it a while back.

I for one, would love to see this option again in M2TW. And if possible expand on the idea.

Demoted? I prefer the term "Enhancing the atmosphere of the Entrance Hall".:laugh4:

Dutch, I'm just thought I'd post something of some context since I'm not allowed to have fun anymore.:wall:

Obligatory on-topic answer: Yes, I would.

Actual reason for responding: I find it funny how non-Entrance Hallers are the only ones who post on DD's threads. :laugh4:

All I know is that the taking prisoners option is back. And yes, that is odd :2thumbsup: .

I think Dave frightens small children, horses and those of a delicate disposition, so no wonder the new members keep him at arms length. :laugh4:

Back OT; Yes kill'em, kill 'em all.

Thing is Dave, I remember when you were busted back to the EH back before the invasion of Iraq, and all you did was post politics topics anyway ~:)

As for execute/ransom. I very rarely executed prisoners, except where there was a good role-playing reason to do so. Doing it for the cash just isn't my style. I remember playing as the Elmos once, and fighting off wave after wave of French crusades. I had fought one particularly tough battle where the French Order Foot had caused me major problems. I didn't fancy ransoming the survivors just so I could fight em again, so I put them all to the sword.

Rebels also tended to get short shrift. Especially if the province had rebelled more than once. Then it was "don't make Daddy come upstairs" time....

Of course, then there is the flip side of "will you pay the ransom to release your own POWs"? My rule of thumb was if they had fought bravely and well and went down to a superior force, then I would pay to release them. If they'd fought like cowards then I left them to rot....

Ha we will bring the fun TO YOU. I don't like discussions, I like to spread racist propaganda and make sick jokes nobody gets. But if you want to make a most biased remark that is not fair and balanced at all, I am your loyal postboy because that is how I like them.

LOL, good to see you got your password Frag, enjoy your "racist propoganda"!!!
So Frag, I take it you're a "put em to the sword" type?:laugh4:

Huh, if you execute your prisoners you don´t get cash - that´s the whole point: Either you execute them and are rid of them for good or you let them be ransomed back to fight them the next time around.

And to answer the question of the topic in the first place, I sincerely hope that taking prisoners and the option to kill them is back in MTW2.
However, I would also like the option to choose whether to ransome them back or not after a battle, and not have to kill them on the battlemap. Maybe to raise the ransom, there are precedents, after all.

Proud member of the golden neckshot award commitee, ya here they suffer. I mean if they are pwned it is an act of mercy to prevent them from having kids that could be pwned even worse.

Hehe...

I like to RPG play my general, so if he is an enlightened fellow, I usually set them all free or just execute the ringleaders. If he's a bastard with a couple of dread points, "against the wall with you!"

I have a feeling that niether will happen because I don't think I'll be allowed back in and if so he'll be less my king and more my pimp since I'm apparently everyone's bit..... oops, almost did a naughty....:laugh4:

I second that as well. The likelihood of me paying the ransom for my guys is usually proportional to how well they've fought for me--particularly in the battle in which they were just captured. ~D

I'd have to agree with the consesnsus here - the more flexibility in this area the better, there will be times when it is useful to grab the cash, make a point and suck some juice out of foreign coffers, and there are times when it makes more sense to ensure your security by despatching them.

On to the other side of said florin - again I concur. If the units/general are useful and finances permit, then yeah, buy their liberty, if not, it's "Sorry lads, I told you to stand and fight...."

I wouldn't mind being able to negotiate (just a little) on both fronts....

I always kill my prisoners because of the cool background noise. (Isn't killing the prisoners similar to exterminating the populace in BI)

Another thing this game should have are the assassination movies like there was in shogun total those were the whole reason i played that game because I was like 10 when it came out.

I agree. I'm just glad that the assassination movies are making a return in Medieval 2. ~:)
