Star Wars.

The Indiana Jones series don't even include a Death Star, storm trooper or a Wookie ( which is a plus, I really despise the animals )

So to summarize:

Pro's

- Indiana Jones does not have a single wookie, yay.

Cons

- No Death Star
- No storm troopers.
- No light sabers...
- No trivial and annoying figure, think Jar Jar...

Come to think of it, the last Con should be in the other list....

Indiana Jones, of course.

In Star Wars they just fight for freedom with a bit of incest for good measure : in Indiana Jones they fight evil Nazis to get the Holy Grail! They end human sacrifices and slavery and eat out of monkey's heads for a little gem to save a little Indian village!

Are you kidding? This is no contest.

We have Darth Vader and the Emperor, perhaps two of the evilest villains ever to be put on screen. They aim to be immortal and take over the entire galaxy, which is estimated to ninety-nine shrakadakaflakamakalillon inhabitants.

Meanwhile, Indiana Jones faces off against perhaps the most cliched villain of all: nazis. What's their plan? Only world domination. Pfft. Amateurs.

The Indiana Jones movies are better but the “world” of Star Wars rules!

Who’s your favorite Indiana Jones character? Oh , um, aaaa… Indiana Jones.

Who’s your favorite Star Wars character? Pick one of thousands!

:inquisitive: Uhhh... okay, let's compare:

-Snakes, the burning fire of god, Nazis, Bedouins, real guns, real bullets, real blood,. tanks, real explosions, Sean Connery, great writing, great action, crazed natives, medeival buzz-saws, and one very old guy from the Crusades.

versus:

-Fuzzy little midgets and a villain who looks like a big black dildo.

There is no contest.

Indiana Jones! Had the star wars movies been better, they might have won. But they are not, and they lost. And the new ones aren't helping the star wars side.

I voted star wars, personally, I think Star wars is great, Indiana Jones a little below in terms of enjoyment. Also, my vote tied up the tally at 17-17-4.

They are both great film series. I voted 'Gah!'

However, what I enjoy more about SW than IJ is the story and its underlying concepts of good and evil, some philosophy here and there, politics, and such.

Though the Star Wars universe is more interesting and enjoyable and has led to many interesting video games and such (Tie Fighter!), the Indiana Jones movies are better, so my vote goes to everybody's favorite archeologist.

The Indy movies are far, far better films. IMO Raiders of the Lost Ark is the best 'pure entertainment' (as opposed to artistic) film ever made.

Indiana Jones, easily. I have fond memories of watching those with my dad. :2thumbsup:

It admittedly would've been a much tougher choice for me had the Star Wars prequels never been made -- they brought the quality of the series way down from the original Episodes 4-6.

Marshal Murat
08-23-2007, 01:19
I will agree with Martok.

Star Wars 4-6 focused on Luke's evolution from boy to man but 1-3 seemed to be very moderate. Exhibit A (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6953790.stm)

The universe was amazing (KOTOR!) but while the universe may be great, we are talking about the films.

Indiana Jones

Has ancient Indian gods (Humna Shiva!)
Nazi killing
Ancient artifacts
whips
action
Chinese kid side-kicks
tanks

It's good action with some awesome myth and biblical materials mixed in.
I hope they don't screw it up with the next one.

GAH! I enjoy both too much! Finding treasure while fighting Nazis exploring Crusader tombs is pretty hard to beat. But then a Super Star Destroyer crashing into Death Star 2 is pretty frickin' awesome.

I think Indiana Jones could beat up Han Solo though. Indiana was never frozen in strange black stuff and mounted on the wall of a giant slug.

They share a lot in common... naturally as the lead man is the same ...note I say man, as the lead boy is not in both ~:).

And they also share the same writers.

Share some of the same locations...

i like both of them for their entertainment value... couldnt really choose one over the other...
though Indiana movies are better made starwars is more creative.

Though I enjoyed Raiders of the Lost Ark, I loathed Temple of Doom, the film couldn't entertain me. The Last Crusade then entertained me and suprised me, but the trilogy is imo inferior to the first SW-movies. It's a shame the acting hasn't improved in Episodes 1,2,3, but the special effects did and as pure entertainment they were better than Indiana's whip.

SW!

Raiders of the Lost Ark was the best Indiana Jones film, Temple of Doom was pretty poor. The last one was a big improvement on that but RoTLA is still a cut above. Of the Star Wars movies I preferred the Empire Strikes Back followed by the first movie. Return of the Jedi was quite simply rubbish and the three pathetic prequels are have nothing to redeem them. Of the two I would have to vote for Indiana Jones because those films were simply much better put together and relied more on atmosphere, plot, humour and quality of acting than on special effects. The effects in the three newest (prequels) Star Wars films, though technically superior were also very cartoonish and childish.

Star Wars.

NB: I do not consider the 'prequels' to even be part of the same series. They were simply appalling in comparison to the originals. I physically couldn't bear to watch episode three.

I've forgotten the name but it's the German character who specializes in techniques of... "persuasion" if I recall correctly. He wears dark clothing, glasses, and talks with an almost stereotypical German accent. I think it was in The Last Crusade.

This character cracks me up with that voice and such. "You weel, Fraülein.... you weel." There's this nice scene in which he enters a tent, holds a "weapon", and evil music plays in the background as if something terrible will happen :laugh4:

But there was also a cool German (Lt. I think) in Last Crusade, I loved his voice.

Ah yes, it was Raiders of the Lost Ark indeed. That one is my favourite Indiana movie. A great first picture of the series.

The Temple of Doom was good too. Darker than the first one. I suspect it had to do with the psychological status of the creator's mind. Gloominess, pain, and suffering, can easily change the artistic work, ideas, etc., of an artist/creator. By the way the line, "Shorty, get our stuff," is one of those that I shall always remember, heh heh! Or "Mola Ram, Mola Ram souderam..." (or something like it( or that of the victim "Opta Shiva, opta Shiva..."

The Last Crusade was good. I especially enjoyed Sean Connery's role.

One particular funny part in the Temple of Doom was where they board the plane and escape and it turns out to be a set up, with the plane being in fact owned by the enemy. The words "goodbye Doctor Jones hahahaha" as the plane leaves are very memorable.

Where Star Wars had it's episodes I, II and III Indian Jones did have the "Young Indiana Jones" series however...

I went with Star Wars. Too much screaming in the Indie series, Temple of Doom on the TV now and she hasn't shut up since the opening seen.
The reason I picked Star Wars; when watching Indie movies the music is just like Star Wars. I didn't notice it back then but every scene in the Indie movie has music playing. John Williams style of music is very obvious in both movies.
