I've been infected with the poll-mania going around the Frontroom. You could say I've been poll smoking.
How do you like your zombies? Fast or slow? Classic Coke or New Coke? Beetle or New Beetle? Inquiring minds want to know!

Definately slow Zombies.These new faster Zombies are giving me gray hair when i think of the forward epic final battle between men and Zombies,if this new breed of Zombies will be the majority of the Zombie horde it may get rough for humanity.:skull:

Fast zombies are ridiculous. The dead cannot move quickly. It is entirely unrealistic if zombies are fast in movies.

Slow zombies. I still get nightmares about those red-headed fast zombies from the GC remake of Resident Evil.

Wow, I thought there would be more disagreement on the subject. Isn't there anyone who wants to stake out the unpopular position? Do leaping, running zombies have a defender on the board?
The whole point of zombies is the slow, relentless, mindless horde, where the individual element is easy to beat, but the numbers are what eventually get you. If you want fast undead, go watch a vampire movie.

Zombies are meant to be shootable. They're supposed to wreak tons of havoc on the human race, but ultimately in the end designed to be shot. To combat this they appear in large numbers.
However, if zombies suddenly get fast that just takes away from the one human advantage- they're much harder to shoot.
Because I like the way things are, I vote slow zombies for the sake of balance.

Personally I like "fast zombies" (that is to say, I like the idea, I wouldnt' much fancy being chased by one) but it's worth noting that most "fast zombies" are not technically zombies at all. I suppose the DotD remake is an exception, but the majority of "fast zombies" (28 Days Later, Resident Evil etc.) aren't actually zombies (ie reanimated corpses) but rather people infected with some kind of degenerative virus or something. A semantic point, perhaps, but it might to help overcome rigor mortis objections.
Anyway, while slow zombies are the only real zombies, the iconoclast in me bids me rise up and eschew the tried and tested George Romero tradition in favour of the fast "zombie", a reaction against the rather formulaic image of the Shambling Horde.
EDIT: Just to clarify my point: Slow zombies are much more fun, but they just aren't scary. I want some scary zombies, damnit!

Damn right. Zombies have no business speeding up. The terror comes from their inexorable advance. Fast zombies I can go watch at the mall.

The traditionalist in me says slow, but DotD Zombies scared my pants right off me. So did the Res Evil ones, and the 28 Days Later. So I voted for Fast, with the idea in mind that they would still be mindless, i mean if they were smart Zombies they wouldn't be Zombies anymore.
... oh and they still have to moan BRAAIINS. Fast Zombies that slowly moan BRAAIINS that's what I voted for.

Slow. Zombie's should be a unstoppable force when hunting in packs yet easy to beat mano a mano. Fast undead are cool as well, but it just aren't zombies.

I quite like fast zombies, although they need to be dead, and probably coming back to life because Hell is full. (Sheesh, you'd think Satan was a better planner wouldn't you? Its not as if he doesn't know about mankinds propensity for sin. Couldn't he get an extension put on?) 28 days later was a good film but people with viruses aren't real zombies IMHO. that's more a werewolf sort of schtick
I draw the line at any form of tool use though. Possibly Zombies can remember how to turn a door handle (because they wouldn't be that scary if you could just shut the door on them) but NO MORE. And all forms of weapons are RIGHT OUT.
Oh yes, and fast or slow obviously they have to keep going until you destroy the brain, I think we can all agree on that?

Shambling. Zombies need to act as if they are in pain, death is a horrible condition that is very hard to cure, the way they move should reflect that.
Fast zombies are ridiculous.

I love zombies in general. HL2 is a good example of fast and slow zombies. The slow zombies are a pain in the arse when in hordes, while fast zombies are very effective just by themselves. And when i say they're fast zombies, i mean they're fast. They leap from rooftop to rooftop in one level, letting out blood-curdling screams.

But, here's a real question: Is a cemetery really dangerous during a zombie invasion?
No. In fact, it'd be a pretty good place to lay low once the invasion starts, since the zombies will all already have left the cemetery. If you're there when it starts, though, you're pretty much snookered.
I'm a traditionalist. Fast zombies are poseur garbage.

Nah, in the Ravenholm level, they can be quite horrific, due to the fact you have very little ammo, and there are many of them.

Ravenholm is one of the redeeming factors, awesome level. But the game is a pushover even on hard. Didn't even notice a difference between normal and hard really, meh.

Definitely slow.
If I want my undead fast I'll go for a ghoul or vampire or whatnot. Zombies are supposed to be like the Teutonic Knights in Age of Empires II: you see them long before they'll get to you, which gives you plenty of time to panic.
