For those who care, and that should be everyone...

The release date for the Pulse DVD was supposed to be January of this year which was then changed to November of this year and has now been changed to possibly July 11 of this year. Mastering of the DVD has apparently finished and the content is being reviewed.

The surround sound will be in complete function utilizing the second set of Altec Lansing floor speakers I picked up at a garage sale for $10. The first set I paid $15. It will be a night of pizza, beer, and very loud music. I will be comfortably numb.

Saw it on Play.com and Pre-ordered.

It's my belief that the Pulse version of Comfortably Numb is the best, bettering even Delicate sound of thunder. Plus it has DSOTM live so it's cool.

To hell with Pulse, and to hell with Gilmour (and Waters, for that matter). When are they going to release any live material from the Barrett years?

Yes, I know about "Pink Floyd: London 1966-67"- but that isn't enough; that just whets my appetite! I hunger to hear a 30-minute version of "Interstellar Overdrive", to hear the wild improvisations of the band whilst on the stage and on acid.

Well, they only played about five shows before Barrett started to lose it, so I imagine that it would be tough to find any material from those shows. Besides, even if it was recorded on film, I'm sure the cameraman was pointing it at the lights for most of the time...

As to the information: hooray!

IMHO Pink Floyd is dull. But thats just me, Interstellar Overdrive is an awesome song none-the-less.

Give me funk and I'll be satisfied.

EDIT: That album art looks great though.

Muahaha! Today, being my 47th birthday, means my dear family shall not be able to escape from this! I now know what I want as a present! My daughter is treating me to Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest this morning. Birthdays are much more fulfilling at this age, no more of that silly unwrapping of gifts you didn't want or need. Another tie? Bah! I wanted that new...

But now I'm old and it's just "OK, what do you want this year?" So, I'll make the hint unavoidable by stopping at the music shop on the way home and planting myself in front of the display for Pulse. We shall not leave until my demands for hostage taking are met! Woohoo!

Have a good one ! :balloon3:

Which, judging by the rest of the post, won't be a problem.

Even if I liked pulse, there would be no way in hell I could buy that. Not today.

Apparently, someone thought that announcing that Syd Barrett was dead on the same day that the "Pulse" DVD was released would be funny.

Is that terrible timing or what? A legend is gone.

Shine on, Syd.

I just got it and I'm watching some of it, the film of the Dark Side of the Moon concert, tonight.

We're having a how-do-you-do this Friday and screening the Pulse concert with a bunch of buddies. An old friend owns an empty restaurant here in town and we're setting up my boob tube there with another guy's surround sound system (his is better than mine) and having a private Floyd party. Should be fun.

Just listened to the opening track, Shine on you Crazy Diamond. If there's one thing to say about this DVD, it's that it is clean. Not a speck of dust in the audio or video. This concert must look incredible on a fancy plasma screen.

There's also a higher quality sound available if you have the right system to play it. I probably don't.

Speaking of Floyd DVDs, I was wandering around Borders earlier today, when I suddenly discovered that "Pink Floyd: London 1966-67" is on DVD. Not much comfort, but I thought it more appropriate to buy than "Pulse."

You do have to be a bit careful with some Floyd DVDs, they end up having lots and lots of interviews with nobodies and precious little concert footage. At least the Pulse DVD is official and has hours of music.

What did you think of London 1966-67?

Pretty good, actually. Not much more than 27 minutes of music, but it was worth it- it's a really freaky music video style thing, interlaced with footage of the Pink Floyd (featuring Syd- you get to see how crazy he really was) in the studio. They first do a 17-minute version of "Interstellar Overdrive", and then a 10-minute unknown called "Nick's Boogie", a very good, slow freakout song by- you guessed it- Nick Mason.

Overall, definitely worth it. It appeals highly to Floyd's psychedelic following. Pure spacerock fans should avoid it, though.

Oh boy. My brother got Pulse and brought it along when he visited me this past weekend. We only had time to play 3-4 tracks but WOW! What a concert! What a DVD! Great picture and great sound even on my all-too-small TV and mediocre stereo speakers. Sadly, I am a very late comer in appreciating the music of Pink Floyd. They certainly knew how to put on a show. I only wish I could have seen them live. Anyway, this DVD has zoomed to the top of my "I want" list. :2thumbsup:

Had the chance to watch some bits yesterday evening, and it's incredible! Perfect audio (very clean, nicely balanced), excellent image quality and above all Pink Floyd putting on a great show. Recommended to not only Floyd fans, but anyone with even the remotest interest in music and the accompanying shows.
