I am pretty negative, I expect things to go wrong pretty much all the time, but I don't think life sucks because I'm proven wrong fairly often.

Ahhh dont worry about it. It falls under the same category. One who sees good or fun to be found in everything.

I'm generally pessimistic -thinking about the worst outcomes of anything happening around. However what I lived taught that (I was different before) if you keep cool, settle down for a moment, even a mountain on your shoulders is possible to carry with yourself. Because if something has to happen, it happens. Life is unpredictable and that's why we all mortal beings still take it. ~:)

That's not being optimistic, that's being delusional.
I've always regarded being optimistic as trying to stay upbeat, no matter what happens.

I chose i am a happy-go luck whatever. religion ties in with my life.
I'm fairly cynical. Without going into a Backroomish rant, I believe in the herd mentality and the general selfishness of humanity. But it doesn't get me down, and I am always pleasantly surprised when someone acts counter to this belief. :2thumbsup:

Mithrandir: Sindarin (Elven vernacular) name of the second of the Istari, Maiar sent by the Valar as wizards, and known by hobbits and menfolk as Gandalf. He was sent by the Valar to Middle-Earth to assist the enemies of Sauron, supervillain of the Lord of the Rings trilogy by JRR Tolkein.
Back on to topic: I'm generally a pessimist and have been a while, but I am trying to, quite unsuccessfully, convert to optimism, as I've heard tales about confidence making you more likely to succeed. I haven't confirmed the truth in this to date, but I'm trying...

I prefer to view my outlook as more realistic, as
opposed to pessimistic. Define realism how you
will.

Just be happy that you have shoes on, period. :laugh4:
If that's truly your response to that, I'm jealous.

What if you did have your good shoes on?
Imagine a worst case-scenario. Say your deepest fears occoured to you all at the same time. It is quite likely you know (2nd law of Thermodynamics).
Would you still be smiling?

Why are people threating thermodynamics like some sort of magic all of a sudden ?

What if you did have your good shoes on?
I would hunt down the dog and beat it within an inch of its life, then burn its family’s house down. Hey, all the repressed anger has to come out sometime.
(I’m just kidding btw)

Gah, dunno. Definately optimist when it comes to the little world where I live in and cynic when it comes to humankind.

I wouldn't call it looking on the bright side, but I've definitely learned that most people just let themselves get upset about stuff.:balloon2:

Optimistic to the point of sheer annoyance to my friends, When you walk out oif every exam you have yelling "I JUST GOT AN A*" they seem to get annoyed.
I live through my troubles by gently humming 'Always look on the Bright side of Life'

Bah I dislike Monty Python. They have some funny jokes but overall they are pretty pathetic imo.
Speaking of exams, I have a Business Studies GCSE this very afternoon! Maybe it would be a good idea to start revising.

You can talk philosophy or whatever this is all you want. The bottom line is, we're all going to fail because someone wants us to, unless...
Apparently I'm a highly competitive defeatist.
I'm going to lose, but everyone else will lose worse than me.
