View Full Version : Mayans!
So yeah, I haven't really kept up on MTW2, but I just happened to visit the site today, noticed the "factions" page, and saw that they have Mayans listed along with the Aztecs. If this is old news, sorry. I looked around on here and didn't see anything. Cheers,
Paullus
EDIT: The campaign map is divided by a large number of factions including the English and French in Europe, the Egyptians and Moors in Africa, the Aztecs and Mayans in the New World, plus many more.

Do mayans have any connection with the word mayo?

Mayo as in mayonaise is a sauce invented on a ship to celebrate a naval victory near an Island that was called Mayo, mayonaise or something like that. (it was a Spanish Island I think)

Didnt the Aztecs exist after the Mayans?

The mayans lasted a long while after the Aztecs, the last mayan stronghold was assaulted and massacred in the late 17th century in an island fortification off the Yucatan coast

I have a feeling the only part of the map that will be revealed is central america.
I was hoping for south america and the incas as well. we'll have to wait and see though.

The last mayan city Tayasal was located on an island in a lake somwhere in Guatemala I think, far away from Yucatan anyway.
So did y'all know about Mayan inclusion as a faction? If so, doesn't that mean that CA either cut a European faction or upped the faction limit?

They're CA, they can change the number of factions at will without limitations.

As far as I can remember the mayans never had a single government because it was difficult to launch any long campaigns as an army could only operate for a week before running into a lot of trouble with supplies. Thus unification was highly difficult. It was different with the Aztecs because they could grow beans which pack much more protein and allow for longer military campaigns. Whatcha gonna do though.

I know they're CA, but if they've upped the faction limit for them (by including Mayans and perhaps others without removing other factions), then it has also been upped for modders.

i think the inclusion of any faction from the americas will based heavily on theorycraft. seeing the huge army of "eagle and jaguar" warriors made me feel icky, i doubt they had full field armies of this type of warrior..i would assume this would be a ceremonial unit....and if it was put to the field it would be in small amounts in proportion to the other units deployed....but this is just an assumption on my part
