EB for sure I just can't play vanilla RTW its just to gamey this just a personal opinion of course but I don't see MTW2 being any different upon release so I will wait until a good realism mod comes out and the price has gone down a little bit I know the game will not break the bank but I just have other priorities for my money.

You should have added other mods. That way I can vote EB as the epitome of the RTW engine.

At this very moment I'm more anxiously awaiting EB's next release which will hopefully be here soon, than the distant M2TW.

I'll get both, but MTW2.

Already playing 0.8 so...

EB v0.8.

EB is known to be quality, MTW2 might look pretty but who knows what it'll play like. Certainty trumps Hope! :)

You do not get EB, EB gets YOU!

I haven't bought Barbarian Invasion for Rome: Total War simply because EB is already a superior product. I can't even go back to playing Rome: Total War vanilla.

Besides, I have neither the money, nor the time to upgrade my PC just so it can handle Medieval II.

I hope publishers don't read that statement...

I hope publishers don't read that statement...If a publisher who knows how to handle games and modding reads it, they will feel satisfied that they are outstripping the competition by embracing this, rather than trying to stunt it until their own products are on the market.

If a free product is better than one that must be paid for, that should be an indication to change the way the commercial products are made, or come up with a new model for leveraging the change in the market.

In a perfect world yeah...

I agree, if a publisher who knows how to handle games and modding reads it they should.

Unforunately with big publishers like EA it might be different. Just look at Battlefield 2. They are hostile towards fan-made modifications as they see them as a threat to their own expansion packs and booster packs which they charge money for.

To me it seems most publishers are run by suits who just think about money and gamers as people who buy any game they publish. Maybe easier to shut down mods that are superior to their own product than making the team behind the game improve themselves, as in their eyes if so and so many people bought that game, then the same amount of people should buy the expansion pack that's totally similar as it's exactly the same game. The recent titles show this trend a bit.

I'll get both games...MTW2 will be very good I think...CA will surprise us this time...I have perceived that they are paying some attention to critics...They have puted the years back in a screen I have seen!but the game still have just 225 turns but it's fully modable they said, and you can continue playing after turns over......

Eh... I'll bet you 20 of your currency that M2TW is a graphically beautiful, crappy everything else game just like RTW was before people started modding it...

Whaddaya say? We in?

Well actually RTW wasnt that bad when it came out sure there was huge room for improvement as EB have more than proved but at the same time it was quite playable unlike BI which doesn't even feel finished.

They seem to be making a real push with MIITW so it might just surprise :2thumbsup:

I wait for MTW2 because EB 0.8 is still a Beta, otherwise it would be 1.0. Because a beta is not as complete as a 1.0 game, MTW will be my choice.

Otherwise, MTW will have bugs, too...so
I play the game that is released first (I think it will be MTW2 because EB is developed quite slow (understandable, because the team is not paid for it))

:Sigh: If it is that bad, why are people still playing it? This is just bashing. Many people were indeed disappointed with R:TW, but for all its faults it still is a decent game.

However, I think you are right insofar that M2:TW will satisfy neither the historians nor the MP grognards. Well, that's what we have the mod community for.

...it was quite playable unlike BI which doesn't even feel finished.

I'm not sure why some people are so down on BI - I thought it was a great expansion; by far the most ambitious and interesting campaign of the 3 expansion packs to date (probably 4 now). But I guess I am biased - something about trying to prop up a dying Roman Empire really appeals to me.

What put you off? Was it the ugly skins? If so, try Goth's all factions mod. It gives BI an "RTR" style makeover and turns the ugly duckling into quite a swan.

But the game out of the box actually plays pretty well - have a look at the WRE "Re-unification" PBEM campaign we finished recently in the Throne Room.
https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=60372
Some participants thought it the best PBEM campaign they'd played.

Back on topic: I'm looking forward to EB v0.8 more. I love the artistry and the historical emphasis of the mod; it also has a lot of good gameplay ideas. I just need the thing to run without multiple CTDs on my rig - right now, I just can't progress with v0.74, it's too frustrating. I'm hoping M2TW will be to RTW as MTW was to STW. If so, EB will have serious competition. But it's just a hope.

I dont know if this was a joke or not but jeez, there is such thing as too much political corectness. I know EB doesent like threads to contain too argumentative material that bashes RTW and its creators, but personal opinion isent hurting anybody. If people continue to view these kinds of threads as hurtfull, and nothing but bad news, the EB forums will be communist in no time. ie: no threads that talk about anything that will bring out ones personal opinion over EB, RTR, BI, RTW, and CA. Thats my forcast for the future if these threads are treated as detrimental.
Although no one has closed this thread so far, I knew Eb was too cool for that.....for now.....:book:

:inquisitive:

I said I'm just an EB fanboy as any, my friendly person. I'm not dissing EB by any means on any accounts, heck, I'm just visiting before going back to play EB right now, 1 A.M. in the morning, so you have nothing to worry about. I'm just one of teh faithfuls as I always was. ~;)

I was just pointing out the inherent statistical "error" that result when such a poll is posted to be accessed by the fans of EB mainly, because, well, it's in the EB forum. And I assure you I'm not taking anything seriously.

Also, I'd like to argue over your use of "communism" as tied to "political correctness" as well, and the meaning behind the terms, but I think that is Backroom material and therefore not relevant to the thread. :2thumbsup:

why not making a poll comparing apples with oranges?:dizzy2:

I mean what is the point of comparing an unfinished mod of roman era with a finished product of medieval era?

Now as far as the MTW2 only from what i ve seen till now i think its by far the best graphics CA ever showed. Yes if a modder (from the ones that have some experience in graphics, not the ones that are smudging around) spend a considerable time might create a better texture of this or that but the material as its previewed by know is of a very good standard.

I will play both, but after seeing the difference between RTW and EB, I am more exited to play future EB updates. Long live EB!
