As regards your question about intent, I was reading somewhere that Europeans tend to want many more kids than they actually pop out.

Well, you only have a limited time window to make make kids if you want to go to college/uni, so you need to have them in quick succession, which really isn't popular with most women.
Don't know if it would be any different in the States of course...

The word "Kindalen" is completely unknown to me and several online dictionaries.
I think he means kinder. Not sure, though, my Deutsch is pretty bad ...
Huh. The translation programs don't have "Kindelein," but there's a passage from Bach referring to "Das neugeborne Kindelein" which is listed as meaning "The newborn little child." Maybe Strike wasn't so far off ...

"Kindelein" is an old diminutive of "Kind". "Kindalen" is not by far a word of the German language.
Maybe he's just screwing up a word for no good reason.
I was once very excited about procreation, but the hormones have settled a little by now and I've accepted that my lifestyle simply has no room for smaller, dependent versions of me with a greater id.
PS: Does Canada count as America for the purposes of the poll?
none for me thank you very much!

The problem I have with having children is that whole 'unconditional love' thing. I'm afraid I'd have a child who'd turn out to be stupid/irrational/unpleasant, and I'm not sure I'd be able to love them if that were these case-even if it probably would be mostly my fault they turned out that way-and that wouldn't be fair to the child.
People with kids I've talked to say that what your child's like doesn't some into it, and you love them anyway, but the idea of some biological imperative over-riding my normal character judgement doesn't make me feel much better about it. I suppose I could gamble that my parenting skills would be leet enough to turn him/her into a good person, but that seems a rather large chance to take. Probably best to avoid smaller BKSes altogether.
I've got 3 kids. Another would surely kill me; the ones I already have will probably manage it themselves. Still, the pleasure they give outweighs the pain (and shortened life span).
Probably best to avoid smaller BKSes altogether.
Aw c'mon! :sad3:

I have no clue what's Kindalen means. :help: The closest general-usage German-rooted English word that I know of is Kindergarten...gah!

From observation, that really isn't true...

:laugh4: You just love changing his name dontcha ~D.
No kids for me, not until I've become the person I want to be anyway.
So maybe in 10 years or so, in the meanwhile I'll be preparing&practising really hard though :eyebrows: ...oh how I love to practise...oops, drifting off topic. :laugh4:
I bet it´s meant to be "Kinderlein", the belittlement of the german "Kinder".
Like in the song "O Kinderlein kommet, oh kommet doch all...."(kinda old-fashioned)~;)

I took the liberty to change the thread title to be a bit more telling (I kept the "Kindalen" in case the word has a deeper meaning that escaped me)

None yet, but I want to some day. 30 sounds like a good age, but I'll let it depend on when I run into a suitable breeding partner- may be ealier or later.
