1) Open up a nice new notepad document

2) type this into your new document: bush hid the facts

3) Save the document, the title of what you name it doesn't matter

4) Close and then Re-Open the document, you should end up with a bunch of boxes...what you previously typed in will have been deleted and changed!

Apparently this is caused by some NSA stuff hidden in the registry. I typed it backwards and it still turned into little boxes.

Saw this and tried it. It did was the above said it would. Hmmm....Any ideas?

Oh, and it only works on American P.C.s, so if you're Canadian or European, you should be able to type whatever you want with no problems.

Sometimes if the text file contains a four letter word, 2 three-letter words, and a five letter word it will do this. Sometimes not.

The difference between boxes and Chinese letters I think have to do with whether your Windows have "Eastern Languages" option (during install) installed or not.

This is really kewl. :laugh4:

it's disappointing whenever someone tries to post something fun and then someone has to start politicizing the thread in a negative way.

The general formula seem to be: first word is even-numbered and the rest of words are odd-numbered. (software bug?)

Even (space) odd (space) odd (space) odd (space) odd ….

- no consecutive ‘a’ (on odd words) or multiple a (if first odd is ‘a’).
- minimum words seem to be 11 letters (without spaces). Eg. ‘do dog and cat’.
- there seem to be no maximum.

Copy and paste this:
bush a dog and mouse and cat and cow and hoe and cheetah and sealion and leopard and and octopus and eagle and rat and lemur and leprechauns and snake and hen and hog and raccoon and bat and moose

first I was thinking if it could be something with an AI choosing between ANSI and Unicode format when saving, but I'm not sure... If you open an ANSI document as if it was Unicode, it will look strange (boxes etc), but there's no identifying header in text documents explaining whether it's Unicode or ANSI, so notepad must make the choice.

Edit: it turns out that's exactly how it works ~:)

"rush hid the facts" has the same effect. It only works in a new document as well. If you edit and save again then reopen, it will display correctly. Sofware bug by the looks of it.

software bug it may be, but why has it never happened to me before? I've made and saved loads of little text files like this for various reasons .... so why now? As soon as Bill Gates decides to retire it all starts going wrong, like he was holding it all together single-handed....

(Gropes for tin-foil hat under the desk......)

Oh, yeah - European PC and I got the little boxes.

The stock market value of tinfoil keeps raising every day.

I just checked the stock value for the maker of duct tape to - it seems that stock is also raising.

So wrap the duct tape around your skulls to keep your heads from exploding and the tinfoil hats to deflect the mind sucking waves of the alien overlords.

Or is it that both items actually increase the ability of the alien overlord's brain wave technology.

Oooooh, if that's the case, I'd better wrap my skull in another material. Argh! I hate to think that the alien overlords are getting easier access to my brain.

Maybe I need to pack clay around my cranium. What should I use if tinfoil doesn't work?

Well I have taken to using masking tape to wrap around my skull to keep it from exploding. (primarily because it doesn't remove as much hair.)

To prevent my brain waves from being read - I have taken to keeping a combination of kyponite and rubber cement that I have shaped into a skull cap that fits over the masking tape wrap.

And then submerging myself into the bathtub using a snorkel to breath through.

Makes for a comfortable sleep - but I come out looking like a prune..

Don't throw away your tinfoil hat. You just need to augment it by decorating it with chicken feathers, as "they" are getting more creative. Some governments say you should stay away from chickens because of avian flue? Well, think about it....:hide:

sheesh, it's just an easter egg - M$ has several of those around in its software... I remember years and years ago playing with a very primitive (but nevertheless nice) flight simulator in excel...

It's just that - easter eggs.

You've nailed it. I tried "ed despise bread" and it worked. I don't think the NSA has any opposition to some guy named Ed despising bread and having poor grammatical skills. Oddly enough, a capital E seemed to not work.
