I've noticed that there isn't a whole lot of weather RTW or EB, maybe the occassional storm at sea but nothing like in history. Look at the first punic war for example, the Roman fleet got decimated by storms off the coast of Sicily many times as it was a particularly bad region for such and they lost hundreds of ships. I was just wondering if the EB team planned on using weather to slow down armies, wreck fleets, and freeze elephants like in history. For example, if a Carthaginian army with elephants moved into Europe in winter then there would be a chance that elephants would die or any unit would suffer in the alps and similar mountain ranges.

Is it possible to do that in rtw?~

Besides increasing the amount of storms a little, which I think they've done already, any more would get annoying. And the most your gonna see for weather on land is the reduced movement during a cold winter or a hot summer. Any more would lead to exploits because they can't script for captains.

Weather events aren't really moddable as far as I've seen. There is a text file that supposedly determines how frequently events occur, but I have not noticed any changes whenever I mod it.

As for elephants freezing, if you could find a way to code that I'm sure the whole RTW modding community would want to have your babies. As far as I know, there is no possible way to make units take random damage depending on where they are or what time of year it is. I have tried many times to try and script earthquakes to happen whenever specific conditions are met and in a specific area, but I can't figure out the right code for it. Armies taking losses during winter and while on the march, IMHO, would be an excellent addition to any mod.

Im not one for scripting myself but it could theoretically be possible to make the computer think that an army in a mountain range during winter, or at any time, was under siege, making them lose troops for every turn they are stuck in the said range. This could of course lead to movement difficulties but if it can be worked out it would add a whole knew level to the game.

A invisible fort perhaps and indicate several turns have passed?

Both suggestions are hardcoded. There's no command for making troops believe they're under siege, and there's no command for placing forts by scripts (afaik).

Good ideas, though, just they sadly don't work in practice.

Another possibility is to make the troops come under plague when in mountains in the winter. But that probably has the same problems as weather.
