I figured this being the Frontroom and all, and seeing as how there are a lot of Floyd-o-philes in here I'd like to hear their opinion on what they think of certain Pink Floyd albums.
Stake your claim, gentlemen, for there are sure to be people arguing for another one. :charge:

I don't really know, I think I only have The Wall, Dark Side of the Moon and some other one whose title I forgot. I need to get more Floyd....
Teh old. And the answer is still "Wish You Were Here".

Teh old. And the answer is still "Wish You Were Here".
Really? I searched up a couple of terms and came up with nothing so I figured I'd do it...
This probably explains the lack of response.
The thread probably got mothballed with the auto-history function on the forum. Meh. There's a first time for everything...and a second...and a third...:laugh4:

actually this thread or something similar seems to come up about once a year.
anyway, for me this is the top four, in order:
1. animals
2. wish you were here
3. the final cut
4. dark side of the moon
those four stand above the rest, which are a bit of a jumble.

Dark Side, but you blatently missed a load of the Live Albums...if you included the Live Albums my favorite Floyd Album is Pulse. No Contest.
Gah! Floyd, although "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn " is cool, actually Interstellar Overdrive is cool. "Dark Side Of The Moon" is probably best for me though because I'm not really into this style of music, slow and progressive (quite frankly dull).
Hard to pick a favorite, but of them all I listen to Animals the least, which means I should be boiled alive according to many.
Piper at the Gates, Saucerful of Secrets, Division Bell, Final Cut. All of them really.
Oh! Less then 30 days to the release of the Pulse DVD. Get your surround sound systems in gear les boys.

Pink Floyd is both teh old and teh lame.
Ooooh, someone's frontroom privileges are about to be revoked...
Pink Floyd does your head in, :dizzy2: , but I wouldn't go so far as to say its lame. Its not embarrassing to like Floyd, is it? It does suggest that someone has probably taken your brain apart, lost the notes of how he did it, and then stuck it back together with a few small but essential bits in the wrong places, but that's a whole other issue.

All are allowed to express their opinions.
We merely ask that people's opinions be registered politely and with respect to the nature of the thread they are being posted in.

"Piper at the Gates of Dawn" by far. Besides, Waters and Gilmour are pompous asses (or at least they turned into pompous asses.) But frankly, Pink Floyd has fallen to the bottom of my favorite bands, and it may soon be overtaken by the Doors, even though Morrison was such a despicable individual. Hendrix and Creedence sit at the top, switching places over time, but they are still the best. It's usually Hendrix, though; no one else can claim to have produced more quality music, especially in so little time.

This is rock music! Everyone's a pompous ass. Doesn't make the music sound any different.

I mean they are unusually pompous; and their lacklustre individual work only accentuates their assitude.
The group compositions are always the best, though, with the exception of Syd's work; he could do just as well without the rest of the band as with them. The others... not so much. Just look at everything made after "Dark Side" (my second favorite album.)
And besides, Syd wasn't pompous; he just had head problems. That is also partly why Hendrix and Creedence are my top two favorite of all time (the not being pompous part.)
Wait a second now... Creedence? You don't think John Fogerty is a pompous ass after the way he's treated the other guys all these years? Fogerty is the poster child for egomanical pomposity. That doesn't detract from his music, though. So, I don't think it should detract from the music of Pink Floyd, eh?

Well, the others weren't exactly nice to him, either; not to mention all the people who accused Creedence of being a passing phase, a tripe band, and nothing but a top-ten group with no musical merit whatsoever.
Besides, that's not what I'm saying... the thing that detracts from their music is their writing. Individually, none of them can hold a candle to Syd, or John Fogerty, for that matter. As a group, when Gilmour and Waters quit bitching at each other, they ain't half-bad.
The best musicians are, for the most part, not arrogant so much as crazy as hell. Just look at Chuck Berry.

It was close for me between Wish You Were Here and Animals, but I'd have to go with Wish.
I really like animals too though.
