From the intro

"One death is a tragedy. One million deaths is a statistic."
-Chuck Norris

What do monkeys have to do with war, oppression, crime, racism and even e-mail spam?

You'll see that all of the random ass-headed cruelty of the world will suddenly make perfect sense once we go...
Inside the Monkeysphere

Funny read and also quite accurate as it explains how society is (not) working:

Just wondering, according to Operation Flashpoint, that quote is from Stalin, not Chuck Norris.:inquisitive:

And I´m not sure whether I cared much if Slappy died...

I doubted too that it was a quote from Chuck Norris. Might have to do with that Chuck Norris internet"hype".

And I´m not sure whether I cared much if Slappy died...
That is because you cannot imagine Slappy being inside your Monkeysphere

Excellent topic.

Although the premise most definitely applies to a certain extent, I believe a good number of people can empathize for the various plights of their neighbors beyond their immediate social group. (Myself not included.)

This is why charities and those who volunteer for them exist. There are plenty who can put themselves in the shoes of the lowly trash collector or the Iraqi refugee..

The monkeysphere is DEFINITELY a concept I will be using from now on.

Cool monkey pictures too (OK a few were apes but thats just being pedantic)

Hmm, I´m thinking about this, while I think it´s true to some extent, I also feel like my monkeysphere adapts to people around me, maybe because I was raised in a christian way and can for example forgive the faults of others instead of showing them the finger. And my traah is mostly touched by machines, so why should I care about the trashman? Besides, I do not copy my software illegally, because all the programmers on this world are inside my monkeysphere and I care for them and their families who need the money, I bet they are more than 150.~;)

I can care for quite a lot of people and at the same time not care about someone close who dies, which is weird.

But yeah, my brain has limitations, as this kind of brainstorming post shows, so many things come to mind concerning this topic, i can hardly grasp the whole complexity, but I really despise being compared to monkeys as you may have guessed already. That´s because monkeys are out of my monkeysphere and I prefer women with less facial hair...

I think that´s enough for now, more next time I log on.:stupido:

My monkeysphere gave your monkeysphere the Ebola virus.

My monkeysphere was freed from itself by masked members of PETA.

My monkeysphere plays with itself in public.

My monkeysphere includes Tripitaka, Pigsy and Sandy.

My monkeysphere missed the last train to Clarkesville.

My monkeysphere, given enough time and enough typewriters, will type out the complete works of Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford. (I just lost half of you or more, the rest just spit soda through their noses while giggling.)

ROFL nice evolutionary joke on a biological based thread.

Of course the counter arguement is the internet ~;).

Thanks. I knew someone would get it! And I had to include the Oxfordian reference just to meet my own warped sense of reality.

You are right about the internet, of course. I think I might lead a sheltered life though, as far as the internet is concerned. Much of the internet is unavailable to me; because I refuse to enable cookies except at a few select sites. It all goes back to childhood, you see.

My monkeysphere alpha female slapped my hands severely whenever I reached into the cookie jar; so I just don't like cookies! :laugh4:
