In an effort to compile all visual information available on Medieval II: Total War I have collected the links to all videos and screenshots in this thread. I hope this will prove interesting for new members. If I have overlooked anything, feel free to let me know.

Videos

1) Official Trailers
The first official trailer is available in high resolution (http://www.totalwar.com/asset_library/Videos/Hi_Resolution/video_mtw2_gamepreview.mov) and low resolution (http://www.totalwar.com/asset_library/Videos/Low_Resolution/video_mtw2_gamepreview.mov). This video features an English city assaulted by Turks and Timurids and mainly shows the animations and the improved graphical engine. (It can also be found at GameTrailers (http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?fs=1&id=2767).) A second trailer featuring the English fighting the French and Turks, can be found here (http://www.totalwar.com/asset_library/Videos/video_mtw2_gamepreview.mov).
A trailer has been released through GameArena (http://www.gamearena.com.au/files/details/html/medieval-2-total-war-gc-2006-trailer) (members only) and 3D Gamers (http://www.3dgamers.com/dlselect/games/medieval2/medieval_ii_total_war.wmv.html).
Mostly recycled material, but also includes a short shot of the Aztecs in a fight (thanks blacksmoke).

2) M2:TW Introductory Videos
A series of movies giving an overview of the game. So far three chapters have been released. Chapter one is available at Gamespot (http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/medieval2totalwar/media.html) (download and high res version requires membership), WorthPlaying (http://www.worthdownloading.com/download.php?gid=1957&id=8019) (high res), 3D Gamers (http://www.3dgamers.com/dlselect/games/medieval2/169_medieval2_071206_hd.zip.html) (high res) and GameTrailers (http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?fs=1&id=2767) (high res and low res).
Chapter two: Cities & Castles is available at Gamespot (http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/medieval2totalwar/media.html) (download and high res version requires membership) and at 3D Gamers in low res (http://www.3dgamers.com/dlselect/games/medieval2/169_med2totalwar_082306_wm.zip.html) and high res (http://www.3dgamers.com/dlselect/games/medieval2/169_med2totalwar_082306_hd.zip.html).
Chapter three: Religion & Crusades is available at Strategy Informer (http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/medieval2totalwar/movie/9060.html), 3D Gamers (http://www.3dgamers.com/dlselect/games/medieval2/movie_3_religion_crusades.wmv.html) and gametrailers (http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?type=mov&id=12964). (I am quite sure I missed a few download locations. Feel free to point them out to me.)

Also in the same series there is an interview with Ian Roxborough on InsideGamer (http://www.insidegamer.nl/pc/medievaliitotalwar/videos/944/).

3) Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/medieval2totalwar/media.html) videos
One of the largest collection, available in various resolutions, but sadly the high-res versions are available only to registered members. You occasionally have to endure advertising before the movie starts as well. The nomenclature is not very clear, but this site contains the official trailers, introductory videos, and many shots of battles, agents in action and the campaignmap. The first part of the agent series is also available for download at GameShell (http://www.gamershell.com/download_14925.shtml) and 3D Gamers (http://www.3dgamers.com/dlselect/games/medieval2/medieval2_clips-hi.zip.html) in high res. Also three other movies of agents in action are available at 3D Gamers (http://www.3dgamers.com/dlselect/games/medieval2/medieval2_clips2.zip.html) as well. (Strangely, I don't always get these movies to work, but Todorp has provided links to their download locations in this post (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=1230184#post1230184).)

4) Gamestar video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzoC7glqQko)
Gameplay video with a German reviewer actually playing the two battles that can be viewed in the Gamespot official movie.

5) 4Gamers.net video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIPEQUvWRTQ&search=total%20war)
Long but low-res video of a wallscreen at the E3 featuring a city assault.

6) Video of unknown origin (http://futurenet.vo.llnwd.net/o2/uk/cvg/video/239/medieval_2_total_war_pc_or_360_hq.wmv) provided by Cudakite
Short, low-res E3 gameplay demonstration.

7) E3 Insider interview (http://www.e3insider.com/video/?type=floored&articleID=MKJBIZM2A7)
Short (very short) interview with Jeff van Dyck.

8) Gameswelt video (http://download.gameswelt.de/detail/movies/gc06-medievial2praesentation.wmv)
A long, low quality video of the M2:TW demo. Consists mainly of material from other videos.

9) YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cze1F2PFTmg)
Not an official video, but this remix contained several shots I had not seen before.

Good initiative Ludens, and as far as I could see it contained pretty much all the vids. released up untill now. Though to be fair, I always felt I missed out on a lot concerning M2TW :juggle2:

I for one have self-stickied this, and perhaps this could be turned into a ''public'' sticky ?

Just thought I'd point this out...

In screenshots 11 and 12 on this page, (http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/medieval2totalwar/screenindex.html) it looks like they are besieging the Fortress of Masada. This was besieged by the Romans, not medieval people. (I think - correct me if I'm wrong)

The big ramp you see in the screens is totally artificial. It was built by the Romans over a number of months so they could get their siege engines to the wall. Pretty amazing really. This is a picture of the fortress today, with the ramp still intact:

The ramp is the big whiteish thing on the left.

I may be wrong but im pretty sure that that jewish fortress was not re-used especialy seeing as if it was they would have destroyed the ramp. However someone who would know will probably disprove me. I think it is more likely just a simillar looking fortress.

I finally watched the full tiny trailer on the .com web site and it's awesome. I was particularly impressed by the way the swordsmen walked. I also sampled some of the music and found it kind of odd they used an organ in the European battle track. Isn't that a little late?

When do you think we will be getting another movie, last one was named "Chapter 1-Overview" which would mean that there will be more of these movies to come, but its been a while since one has been released.
I don't know. I suppose they want to release one chapter a month to build up anticipation, but you never know with CA.

But I cannot download as I am not a member of Gamespot. I regularly have trouble accessing even the low-quality, free videos available. I suppose it has something to do with my firewall.

Hey,

nice collection of movies you got there. About the Gamearena trailer, I think this one: http://www.3dgamers.com/dlselect/games/medieval2/medieval_ii_total_war.wmv.html is the same trailer because it has the same file name and size. Am I the only one surprised to see trebuchets as a trainable unit? Shouldn't they be siege equipment with build points like a ram or a ladder?

No medieval army was dragging trebuchets around Europe, not even dismantled. They were constructed on site using wood from the immediate area and once constructed they were essentially immobile. Only component parts might have been carried with an army, like some of the metal components. But for all intents and purposes, a treb was a building. Hinged counterweight trebuchets didn't even have wheels.

I can understand why other smaller siege engines are modeled as units, since they can be moved and they can arguably be used against units of men in the field. But a treb is useless against anything but a fixed structure in a siege, they take too long to reload and once constructed have almost no ability to change aim in the left or right direction, only up and down (which was not easily achieved, either).

I can understand if they limited the capability of constructing trebs at a siege to factions that have built a specific building, to model the fact that advanced knowledge was needed to design and build them effectively. And I wouldn't mind this so much if I didn't suspect that the movement points for siege engines will be very low (as it was in RTW), meaning that having to drag these monsters around will significantly slow down your armies on the campaign map.

Game Trailers (http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?fs=1&id=2767) has HD videos for download without any kind of member stuff. I know it's been already listed but I just wanted to single out this provider's name after bumping into "hey pay me if you want better videos" messages on ritchie-rich-friendly game websites.

They have added the latest HUGE siege warfare video of which HD version varies around 110 MBs. Low-res one is around 35 MBs. As I just mentioned, you get crystal-clear HD video there for free. :2thumbsup:

This was done as a film, yes im old enough to have seen and remembered it from your picture, it starred Peter OToole as the Roman General assaulting it.

The Jews Threw Water down the side of the mountain to taunt the romans who were very short on water, and almost gave up the assault. Not to spoil the ending for anyone intending to watch this at some point, but there was no battle in the end of the seige o.0
