http://www.kinkyfriedman.com/misc/TenReasons.pdf I really really really really like this guy. He just may save us Texans from the medrocrity of America. So I urge all Texans TO VOTE FOR THE TEXAS JEWBOY VOTE KINKY:2thumbsup:
If I were from texas I'd vote for him just because of his name.....
Parents can be so cruel....
He and Grandma could end up getting a Democrat, Chris Bell, elected who may actually be worse than Rick Perry, who ranks up there as one of the worst governors in Texas history. Perry is as corrupt as Tom DeLay and Bell is the Democrat version of Perry.
Kinky once ran for Kerrville office, constable or something like that, as a Republican. He claims to be an independent now; but I don't trust people who switch parties without a lot more explanation and openness about it, or suddenly decide to be "independent" as in this case. The same goes for Grandma. I can't bring myself to vote for him or Grandma (who I didn't like when she was a Democrat and the mayor of Austin) or Perry or Bell.
I suppose that Kinky may be the lesser of 4 evils. He's certainly better than the alternatives.
It's hard not to like a guy who says things like:
"If I lose this race I will retire in a petulant snit," he said. "I'm not going to go out gracefully, I promise you."
and on gay marriage:
"They have every right to be as miserable as the rest of us."
To Fragony:
His real name is Richard S. Friedman. Kinky is a nickname he picked up in college, here at the University of Texas. It stuck with him, and he used it when he had his band, the Texas Jewboys in the 1970's.

Wow, I love this guy already. Makes me wish I could live in Texas just long enough to vote for him. In a world of mealy-mouthed hypocrites, we can use a guy like that.
I'm all for stand-up representation.

Got to agree with you on this. Perry is by far one of the worst governors the state has had. His attempts at Education and Property Tax Reform smack of fluff, and smoke and mirrors, and fails to address the issues that were important for both of those measures. And shall we mention the failure of the School Tax reform measures. Gads we will be suffering that one for several years.

Well I can't vote for Grandma for pretty much the same reasoning. Perry disappoints me to an extreme dislike of his policies. Bell I don't know much about yet. (You got any insiteful information on him? I fear the democratic verision of Perry is accurate though - all fluff, no substance, completely controlled by the Party Bosses in the state.)

Yep

I like him for his seemly straight to the point method of communication.
Most likely I will end up voting for him unless something good breaks out about Bell that places him above Perry in political abilities.
Hell the main thing is that I think we need a maverick in the Texas Governors office for a little while to shake up the political system a little. The State Congress is beginning to mirror the stupidity of the Federal Government.
Bell I don't know much about yet. (You got any insiteful information on him? I fear the democratic verision of Perry is accurate though - all fluff, no substance, completely controlled by the Party Bosses in the state.)
Bell went negative early in his primary fight with Bob Gammage. Even though Gammage had pledged to keep the debate at a higher level, he eventually gave in and responded to Bell in kind. Some of the trash that Bell put out was just plain obscene. I started getting Gammage material in my email during the primary because I gave to Wes Clark's campaign in the 2004 primary season. Wes Clark came out in support of Gammage, and I ended up on the mailing list. Bell accused Gammage of all kinds of things. That kind of stuff just turns me off immediately.
Bell also has a history of questionable monetary matters. Back in his days running for the city council in Houston he refused to release his financial records. And yet, one of his running points now seems to be centered on DeLy and ethics. I find that rather dubious considering his reluctance to be open about his own financial dealings. He strikes me as one of those politicians who follows the money like a shady lawyer follows ambulances. It's just an impression, I suppose.
Ack! Looking at the vote in the poll above, I ended up as anti-Kinky. How'd that happen?

Well I went and scared myself - I read parts of his web site for the campaign...
To answer your impression with a comment from his website.
. He left journalism after receiving his law degree from South Texas College of Law in 1992 and beginning a successful litigation practice.
Maybe the shoe does fit him in this case......:2thumbsup:

VOTE FOR THE TEXAS JEWBOY VOTE KINKY:2thumbsup:
The reason we love Strike so much is his honesty, and complete indifference to any one (one of the chosen people in this example) who is offended as illustrated in figure 1.1.
I think I would vote for him (if I could vote). He seems like a good person to be the next Texas governor.
