Thanks to Tony Blair and his multi-millionaire pals, I and my hardworking compatriots, all taxpayers, have been swindled out of millions.

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) says that of the £540m it knows about, it lost £131m to fraud, up from an earlier estimate of £15m.

Some 53,000 fraudulent claims were only discovered after payment - although HMRC stopped 91,000 other attempts.

If it's not one thing, it's another.....

:shame:

Just what I pay my taxes for..... (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/5168452.stm)

Ohh...that's right, I forgot. The government has it's own money, no way on Earth that it came from the taxpayer....my bad:wall:

That? It's nothing compared with some notable others:

The Treasury has managed to give 10% extra on tax credits. That's £1.7bn
Then there's the NHS reform programe. Managed to go over budget by about £8bn, on the Centrally Funded Initiatives and Services and Special Allocations ( CFISSA ) programme.

I'm sure that there's loads of others, but IMO they are more serious.

Well if the UK needs more cash they could always cruise the parks looking for old people feeding birds.

Well if the UK needs more cash they could always cruise the parks looking for old people feeding birds.

I know that you say that as a joke but you're nearer the mark than you realise.

On the spot fines (for the most mundane reasons and it will cost you money), speed cameras, fines for putting the wrong rubbish in the bin, congestion charges, house seller packs, ID cards, to name just a few. I'll give Tony credit, he's thought up dozens of ways to swindle the hard working subjects of Her Majesty.
