Hi,

I was just wondering if somebody who has the Syrian Flats map for RTW could possibly send me (upload it or email it to scbromley[at]gmail[dot]com) their custom_locations.txt...Syrian Flats is basically Grassy Flatland but sand not grass.

I don't have it...but I'd very much like it :2thumbsup:

You can have the map if you become a protectorate. Accept or we attack!!

Sorry, don't have the map, just a warped sense of humour. :laugh4:

Where is it from?

I guess one of the various map packs that have been floating around. Definately exists since it apparently used to be the 1.5 CWB 2v2 map.

The map comes with the the standard version of RTW and is typically located in the RTW\Data\world\maps\custom\rome_flat_14 folder. I'm wondering why you wouldn't have it - you got some mod installed?

Ah thanks I didn't think I had it because it wasn't in my Custom Locations lsit, but obviously its a custom map so it wouldn't.

But while your here, professor, I have a question. I'm an admin over at a RTW/BI multiplayer tournament site and we're looking for a flat, desert 2v2 map. However Syrian Flats is not included with Barb Invasion. So I tried to copy it into BI from RTW.

What I did was:

I simply went to RTW\Data\world\maps\custom\rome_flat_14 folder and right click> copy.

Then went to your BI folder> Data> World> Maps> Custom

And hit cntrl v on my keyboard.

I can now use Syrian Flats with custom battles on BI, works fine. But I've not yet tested it on mutiplayer because at this time of day the lobby is dead.

Should it work with people who have not copied/pasted the SF folder into BI? And if not will it work with people who do have the map installed on BI?

I assume as it's a map file, both people would require the map to play. I'm not sure the RTW online client would copy the file across automatically.

I'm surprised there aren't any community map packs with these maps and others included to be honest. Unless there are but I've not heard about them.

After testing I've found all players, like you sai,d must have the files. However, I've only managed to test it in a 1v1, do you forsee any desyncs/crashes in team games? I can't see any reason for them, but as this is a tourney we can't be playing on maps with a risk of desyncs/crashes.
