I've recently run into some problems with my EB install that have finally massed up into a serious, game stopping problem. No problem I figure, I'll uninstall and clear up my cluttered space, it probably just needs a bit more space. So I uninstall RTW/BI and all its modificitions and we're good. Sorta. The EB directory will not leave. So I go to delete it manually. No go: "You can not delete your RAM".:dizzy2: Ok, lets try this again with each individual files and this seems to work till I get to maps. "You can not delete your RAM". :furious3: So I go into that and start cleaning IT out, and I get to roads. Attempt a delete and I get the message: "Your C: drive is not formatted. Do you wish to format now?" Now, I know I had a lot of problems formatting because I have one IDE and a SATA card/drive which seems to upset it something terrible. But what the hell. I've been using my system for a year now and never got this. I've uninstalled EB several times and never got this. :furious3: :wall: Ok, ok, well, I know I've seen a manual uninstall guide for RTW. "Delete such and such from the registry". Oh wait, that doesn't exist, and I just did steps 2 and above. So that manual removal guide is useless. :help:

I don't think I've ever bothered with that many smilies in anything before. :sweatdrop:

I would back up whatever you have of value. It sounds like that hard drive doesn't have long for this world.

My experience with computers is: they all suck and they're always broken. If only they weren't so damn useful, we would all have a lot less stress in our lives.

Rename the map folder and move it. Occassionally I get this problem. You can't get rid of the files without a reformat unfortunately. Moving and renaming the files enables you to reinstall EB though.

Despite the fact that I bought it just a year ago. Never, EVER, buy seagate. WD all the way. Its all gone, no helping it now. I've got a back up, but its about a year old. Even if I had tried to back up what I have, heh, that'd take 2 500 gb HDD's alone, and a third depending on how the external feels. So much for those video and animation projects. Oh, and the plugins and crap for the software.

Sorry to hear the hard drive is kaput. I lost mine a few months ago but I had enough warning signs to get everything backed up first. The original and replacement were WD's.

Uh, seagate is AWESOME, usually MORE reliable than WD...
