I did a forum search and didnt come up with anything on this game, so I thought I would start a topic on it.
This is the most realistic, yet still fun, WW2 shooter I have ever played. (And Ive played them all.)
It started out as a mod for UT I believe, but now its standalone for a great price on Steam. It has the graphics and gameplay that pull in $60+ for only about $25, because it has no single player. (Well, you can play the MP maps with bots, much like you could in BF42.)
The game focuses on WW2 on the eastern front exclusively. Along with a pretty standard infantry setup, the game also has tanks and armored vehicles, which far outshine those of CoD or the BF series.
The thing that makes this game shine above the others is the element of teamwork that is required to accomplish things... its very good. It playes more like America's Army than Call of Duty.
I didnt mean this to be a review, there are plenty out there, just my views on the game.
Check it out, if you like realism than this game thoroughly thrashes the Medal of Honor games, the Call of Duty games, Day of Defeat, and the Battlefield Series.
Oh, and the devs are completely in it for the love of the game, so there are plenty of updates and they are quick to fix problems.

Do people die like that in-game?
Whoa! If that's an in-game screenshot, I've been missing out. I've often heard of the game but for some reason was turned off because it was solely based on the eastern front... however, I may reconsider my stance now.
I never got it because of the only MP campaigns because my internet isn't fast. But it still looks pretty good.
Well, I could never resist a realistic military game, so I just bought it ~:) . It's currently downloading and I can't wait. I'll post my thoughts on it if I'm able to pull myself away from it at some point...

Yes, those were all in-game screenshots. Of course the ones with "Red Orchestra" at the bottom have been cropped and such, but the bottom one is not.
The death sequences are amazing in this game. A lot of gore, and the way people "die" is extremely realistic. However, thats nothing compared to the gameplay itself.
Here are some more screens i managed to find, plenty of gore when grenades are involved.. gunshots dont do nearly as much, as is to be expected ..

There was a thread on this some time ago. Strange that a search found nothing.
Anyway, I haven't bothered to get it because I'm not really interested in getting back into the Steam thing, and because to get it without Steam would require getting spiffy, new version of UT.

This forum is viewed by younger age groups. In addition many members here have children. We aim to keep PG at all times. Those removed images definitely were not; a couple of them wouldn't appear in most 18 rated films!
There will be no more pictures like that. Reality of war or not, good graphics and flash technology or not.

I've played only a tiny bit of it,m and I liked it very much. It's not for the mass of the people, it's very realistic and strategic, plus, crosshairs are missing, so , watch your shooting! :dizzy2:
I'll keep my money anyhow till Alliance: The Silent War comes out. I have problems with the heads of the house because of FPS games. :wall:
I've played it an like the infantry side of the game. Realistic small arms, good movements speed and firing system. I know I'll play this and DoD for a long time.
It's the tanks I don't like, I've played a few tank Sims and they way they added tanks are bad in my opinion. If anything they should have just left the tanks out and had it pure infantry combat.

Glad I caught those before censorship as they were one of the main reasons I got the game :2thumbsup: .
*edit*
Man this game is fun. Been playing it a bunch these past 2 days and nights. If anyone else from here is on there, my name is Wonderland on there of course. Usually play on the FKMod infantry only server. Good fun!

The UT mod is not supported anymore, and has about only 2 servers functioning out of 20 that are almost always empty.
Best bet at finding a game at all is the Steam version.

Good time to try the game and see if you like it.
RO looks great but 32 players maximum?!? Boooooooo! The Battlefield series has spoiled me with those 64 player servers; I simply cannot get psyched up for a BF2 match unless it's on a server with 50 people or more.
More people = more carnage = more chaos. :skull: :2thumbsup:
I'll check out RO though, 32 player max or not it sounds too good to pass up...

Believe you me, 32 players is more than enough to have a hell of a good time with this game. Matter of fact, some people prefer even less players for even more tactical action and less random grenade lobbing. Of course, most of the players of this game aren't the typical BF style nade lobbing, spam shooting kids. There's definately good action a lot of the time. Some intense battles I've been a part of in only 3 days. Insane back and forth action, taking and losing objectives, down to the wire all out Russian charges. Wooo! Gonna' go fire up a game right now!

The maps are too tightly packed, so 32 players is alot. Ideally you'll want 20 player infantry only maps to get the hang of the game.

Preloading Red Orchestra through Steam, but it will take me a lot of time, since it dls with 16KB/s. :skull:
Anyhow, I think I'll buy it and the expansion(if it comes out). Let's hope for an expansion pack for DoD.

The expansion is free. ~;p

Let's hope they continue progress on the orginal DOD. It needs more maps and I like to see a bayonet put on the KAR or/and the Garande.
Guys, you definately need to try this game. It is free for 5 days starting today. www.steampowered.com
I have a played a lot of WWII shotters and this by far the best. The armor/infantry combat is as realistic as they come.
I didn't like it. I just didn't feel part of the game world. Probably more the UT engine though.

Well, it's not everyone cup of tea. I just liked the realism and the skill it took to play.
