That even though i've been on these forums a while and praised EB and its makers many times, EB is truly magnificent. So good, that i am unable to play any other mods. I can't play vanilla for obvious reasons, Res Gestae and Darthmod are little more than skin packs, SPQR is fun but highly unrealistic and therefore not to my tastes, the only thing that comes close to EB is RTR... And even then it is difficult to play RTR after experiencing EB... There's just so much to do and so much more challenge there than any other mod, so much more depth in the character traits department, awesome unit skins and realistic troop recruitment, the awesome government building system which is so good i'd bet money that future mods will use it in their mods, i could go on all night...

I absolutely cannot wait for the very final build of EB, and i shall have a can of beer in a minute in honour and respect of all the people that helped make the mod.

Thanks for the kind words Dayve. We've had an influx of about six new members over the past couple weeks, so we are slowly starting to move in some areas we were stuck in before. We're expecting big updates on our internal build within a week or so - two big ones. Then we'll be testing things and pushing to fix problems. We're more active now it seems in trying to figure out the reinforcement problem, but we don't have it yet. It seems very nasty, but there is a plan at least in figuring it out, which no one has managed to do so far. I've been playing as Pontos, Carthage, Epeiros, and Seleukids over the past month, and haven't had any mysterious CTD's and have been enjoying them in 1.5. Still a long way to go to 1.0, but we are getting there. I want to be able to enjoy some other mods when this is all done, like PI and Hegemonia among others, but I'm afraid I'll be too brainwashed by the things in EB to enjoy them as much as I could and want to.

Awesome stuff. :2thumbsup: And I have to agree with Dayve. All the other mods I used to play, while amaizing with models or other things, just don't have the feel EB does. While in no way putting them down, it is just hard for anything to surpass, or even get close to, the depth of this game for the nice niche of us history lovers.

Yes, after EB Im half tempted to remove RTR to free up some space... either that or sacrifice a goat in the name of the EB dev team :laugh4: :2thumbsup:

I know what you meen about the campaign but what about the battles. I feel like the battles are allways against me somehow and like troop movement is more like chucking balls at each other and seeing whos the biggest and most firmly built.

Man, does the advancement mean that Baktria is finally playable and that Pontus has Chalkaspides? Because...that's what advancement, like, means.:fishbowl:

I think that pretty much everyone who gives EB a chance and plays for any amount of time understands that when it comes to excellence in modding RTW, EB is at the top of their game (no pun intended).
Somtimes while reading these threads i get the feeling that we gamers simply cannot express in words how appreciative we feel that the members of EB spend so much of their time working on this fabulous mod. The eagerness with which we all await .8 version and our interest in helping to give ideas and fix problems displays just how much we like you guys. You've definetely made this game everything I had hoped for in RTW and even made things possible I hadn't even expected.
I'm relatively new to this mod and already I feel as excited about its future as someone who's been playing for a long time. Keep up the great work and here's a party just for you.

Be sure to lock yourself inside the community center if anyone is worried about it. The rest of us will be fine actually. As long as George Clooney stays away. :laugh4:

If loving EB is wrong, I don't wanna be right! :dancing:

I wish I could swallow my pride and tell the creators of Rome what a fantastic job they did. But all I ever did was complain about the bugs and the AI.
So when is a stable version coming 'cos mu 6 day old daughter wants to know?

But CA didn't do a fantastic job. They did a hurried job and released a crappy game, then to add insult to injury they had everything hardcoded to give modders as hard a time as possible. And as if that wasn't enough, they advertised the game falsely. They showed units that were never in the game, they showed city assaults with things happening that just don't happen in the game, they showed mega 10,000 man battles which they said would be easy for computers to handle (biggest lie of them all), the AI was terrible, the units were so bright that they actually made my eyes hurt when playing in anything but full light, the historical accuracy was non-existant, and they've banned me from their .com forums and refuse to lift it.

Obviously i'm thankful a little bit to CA for releasing the game which, after 2 years, is finally being modded and is becoming the game it should have been in the first place, but my thanks and my gratitude lie with the EB team more than ever will with CA.

Muahahaha you really have no idea do you. If you applied your strict standards to EB then it would fare lot worse than vanilla (CTDS and such). The EB team makes the mod because they want to. The problem is that the next game is almost upon us and with the imperfections of this current game(rtw) it'll be difficult for CA to make worse AI which leaves us with better graphics. So most fans will move on. Time run out on the team. No stable product released to date. Imagine how it must feel to be working on Chivalry knowing that MTW2 is almost here sort of, pointless I guess.

Making a few skins and adding a few improvements(modding) pales in comparison making a new game from scratch. I play vanilla without CTDS(ever) .The Box states clearly "game" so I don't wear a toga while playing it. The majority of the people that play rtw will never play a mod nevermind post on a forum. So don't be so smug Dayve... I understand your need to feel more hardcore or "real " than the rest but the rabbits are not caught yet so save your praises tills after they are cooked. The smell of one's own farts can be intoxicating sometimes

Time will not run out on this team. You see how long it takes to make a real medieval mod for RTW? It will take at least that long if not more (more detailed game after all) to make an ancient mod for MTW2. You can take that to the bank.

Anyone who wants to play a game set in the ancient world will be playing RTW for years to come, not a mod on MTW2 (well, maybe in 2009).

I'll not argue, but i will say that we can't apply those standards to EB because EB makes it clear that it is still in the beta stage and that there will be bugs ctd's and problems. EB is incomplete, yet still manages to be a more accurate, realistic and enjoyable game than vanilla, which was also released when it was incomplete.

And you should try wearing a toga whilst playing... Not only does it add to the atmosphere but a thin white toga is perfect clothing for the hot summer. :2thumbsup:

On top of that, RTW costs $50+ while EB is a free mod, based on the original engine and working around the hardcoded limitations. Anything wrong with EB might as well be because of the vanilla RTW it's based on so strict standards or not, it all goes back to the original game. There's no denying the power of EB.

I won't sugar coat it. Other mods I've played have been crap. Merely face lifts that do nothing about enchancing the game play. They probably accomplished what they wanted, but not what I'm looking for.

This is the only mod that keeps the game fun. Much in the same way you date a sexy girl, if she's not intersting, after you fuck her a few times it gets boring.

Ok, after many times.

EB is a great MOD.
