I will miss the corps. Its now official. I saved two + years leave (vacation), and I am out of the corps in ONE WEEK. I got my final approval for early separation today.

I have a job secured as a firefighter with a local agency. I'm just waiting on the start date.

Its done. In one week, I will be an ex-Marine, or Former Marine, depending on how you take your coffee.

Seven years (and change) of military service. Over.

At the same time, I will also be ending my law enforcement career, since I was an investigator with the military police in the corps. No more badge and gun. It is all over.

I am sad and thrilled all at once. The military has been great but it is time to move on. :2thumbsup:

Thought I would "drop the bomb" back here, since I am letting the world know today.

Congratulations and commiserations. At least, that's how I felt when I left the regiment, both exhiliarated at the new possibilities and very sad to lose the family.

Somehow, I don't think you will ever be an ex-Marine, it's not possible. You can take the man out of the Marines, but not the Marines out of the man.

I'm glad you have a job to your liking and that continues your tradition of service. Civvy street is often remarkably hard - not quite as many people you know you can rely on to protect your back.

May your God keep you and bless you.

(And maybe now you can let your inner liberal free...:trytofly:)

Eclectic reverts to civilian life at home with the kids, but not without the occasional flashback...

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD... :sweatdrop:

For a second there, I thought, by the thread title, that the military was going to fold the Marines into the other branches of the service, and remove them as an independant branch! :dizzy2: Wow...

Anyway, congratulations.

Congrats! Make sure that if you join federal service that you buy back that time!

Well. I got my walking papers today.

I am hosting a kegger tomorrow. I'll drink extra since you all cannot join me.
