Rome: Total War on my LCD. Need Help.

I have just bought Rome Total War Gold edition. It is therefore already patched with version 1.5.

I have an LCD screen, so running the game in anything but 1280 X 1024 makes it look terrible. Thing is, 1280 X 1024 is not in the game choices. Is there any way at all for me to play in 1280 X 1024 ?

I'm not 100% sure of the details, but I believe you can enter new resolution options into the "preferences" file. I seem to recall there is a thread somewhere in the Apothecary forum, along the lines of "Things to do before installing RTW." Have a rummage around in there.
