Ok so I have some pretty nooby questions:embarassed: :shame: , here it gos...

1.)What is the best way to take pictures in battles? And how do I get rid of the flags and green arrows? I heard something about looking in the preferences.txt file but I don't know what to do or where that is. Also will that remove the green arrows and flags from the game while I'm playing or only in the pictures?

2.) is it possible to stop arrows that have been shot from disappearing after they've been in the ground for a little while?

3.) is it possible to record battles from a campaign so I can watch them later and relive the carnage?

Sorry if these are repeat questions but any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

1. In the preferences file turn DISABLE_ARROW_MARKERS:FALSE to DISABLE_ARROW_MARKERS:TRUE and SHOW_BANNERS:TRUE to SHOW_BANNERS:FALSE If I ever take SS, I just use print screen then paste into paint. There are some other programs floating out there, try google.

2. Not that I know of, it would probably add a lot of lag thou

3. No

3) yes, using FRAPS, though they overcharge for the full product which removes the water mark and other crap. It'll also take pictures, though in the free version only BMP. Though, if you can't run huge unit size, don't even bother.

There is a whole topic devoted to taking screenshots. You can find it here (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=66345). Also, to get round the camera restrictions you can use the movie_cam command line. You can find instructions on how to use it here (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=45874). Remember though that movie_cam only works in replays.

is the preferences file in the activision folder and will changing those things mean I can't see green arrows and flags in game?

Preferences.txt is in the R:TW root folder (called "Rome - Total War" in the standard installation) in 1.2, and in the preferences-folder in 1.3 and 1.5 (there is a second preferences.txt in the root folder in 1.3 and 1.5, but changing it won't have any effect).
