...explain to me how on earth i barely manage to keep 3 armies on the field (one guarding my borders) with all of Italy, Sicily plus Corsica and Sardinia (i am Roman), with peace and trade rights with Karthadat and Epeiros while Pontos and Sweboz manage to have 6 (!!) full armies without garrisons going around with only 6 and 4 provinces respectively?

Ah the mysteries of life....
~;)

Well The AI gets some support at the beginning wich probobly helps it to build units and to build up it's economy more quickly. But if you ask me it makes it only more fun and interesting. No more steamrolling as much as in Vanilla.

Yes and no. In vanilla while playing on very hard there is this point where it is just exasperating to fight full stack after full stack; especially in sieges just because the computer gets that boost. I haven't noticed that in EB because of the higher maintenance costs, but in vanilla it is just asinine. I hope that won't become an issue in EB.

Well the AI gets quite a boost from the, well, AI whenever their treasury goes empty. Something to the tune of a 30k injection every time, if i remember correctly. It's gotten a bit annoying, I understand. I remember the idea of EB was to have high maintenance costs so you couldn't build whole armies exclusively out of elite units, but currently my Romani legions are facing a Makedonian fullstack made up completely of hypaspistai, hetairoi and pheraspidai, and they are defeating all comers and gaining in experience. As it was when I began war with them some of those units already had triple gold chevrons. You can probably imagine how obscene that is. What is probably the best assault infantry in the world, with more defence skill and attack slabbed onto their already substantial stats. They ended up with something like 17 attack 31 defence. Or was it 41?

Also, I wonder why there are no sources mentioning those Aedui uber-generals. I mean every Aedui general has over 3 command stars while mine barely manage to have one or two. Same goes for every enemy. The territories around Rome are "illuminated" with countless stars. Gameplay should go only so far. Getai, Aedui and the rest of these folk were not particularly known for their inspiring tactics, were they?

The command abilitis system (stars) need to be totally revamped. It just can`t be that a general with Sharp/Carismatic/Vigorous abilities, having fought more than 30 battles (got the "seen the elephant trait" BTW), 15 or so of them heroic victories, and having 4 command stars. He had no trait whatsoever that may show a tendency of him not being a natural born conqueror... but then again having 48 years, and having fought 30 mayor battles to say the very least, he has 4 command stars...

I mean, he should have at least 7 or 8... no one asks for 10 (equivalent of Alexander, Phyrros, Hannibal, etc.) but at least a decent command ability.

i presume you play on VH, right? afaik, AI gets 10k each turn on this difficulty level. and that's apart from the 30k injections mentioned by Pezhetairoi.

Also I'm pretty sure the AI makes more per city on VH. Since you make less per city on VH compaired to M or E it would make sense. As for the stars, the morale boosting traits are more important then command stars, since stars only booast morale of near units while the traits boost morale of units no matter where they are in the field.
