View Full Version : Question about build queue precedence
So you've expanded your empire, and have 10-15 provinces that you are teching up while preparing armies for the next push. You have buildings and troops queued up across your domain, but not enough cash to purchase or start building them all. How does the computer determine which build queues get allocated funds and which get starved? Most/least expensive item first? Province alphabetical order? Troops, then buildings? I've tried to get a feel for it, but can't make any sense of it. It's a real pain when you have to dequeue stuff just so one province can get going on a citadel. Has anybody researched this yet? :help:

On a general basis (plenty of exceptions though):
IIRC it starts in the north-west and moves south-east. It's possibly made on the DeclareLandRegion order in the startpos files, but it's just a guess. Italy should be last in that case.
The costs are province based. That is, things is built in one provence and then they move to the next one. I'm not sure if buildings or troops is tested first, but both are built before moving to the next province.
If you cannot afford a building (or troops) it'll test the if next next province can afford it and build thier if possible. That'll continue until the money runs out (or nothing everthing is built for that turn).
Ok, so there is a method to the madness. I'll have to check out the startpos file and pay attention to see if it follows that order. Thanks.
