Allright, I just got the game but are unable to play it actually.

Everytime I start a campaign, pick a country and press 'start campaign' I get the load screen.

When the bar is completely red I get a black screen for a second, then the game menu for a second and then it all crashes :help: ........What can I do about this?????

btw: I did patch the game with the 1.1 patch:

(and is there a simpel way to take screenies?)

What version of DirectX do you have?
I think you'll need version 8.1 or newer to play it.

Greetings, Singleton Mosby!

Check out this thread (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=1221439#post1221439), which discusses the same problem at somewhat greater length. In the end, rolling back your video driver might take care of the issue.

just like Martok said... i was having the same issue, and this thread talks about that! :2thumbsup:

setting the anti-aliasing from "off" to "2x" in the video card performance settings should solve the crashing right before the campaign screen loads.

Ok, that is great and all but where can I find a screen in which I can change it?

My 3-d card is a Prosavage DDR 32 MB

go to 'display properties'
then 'settings'
click 'advanced'
and then there should be a video card tab to click.... then find the 'performance settings'.

im not sure if everything will be the same for your video card... i have a GeForce 7300 LE card which came on my brand new computer. so yours might be different

The Savage card, that's an old one. Forcing anti-aliasing might not even be possible, and I doubt the card could handle AA and play the battles well. I did a Google search, but didn't find much about your card and MTW, aside from one previous post on the subject here. Have you tried using a newer/older driver? Also, what version of Direct X are you running? You probably won't want to be running a Direct X above 7/8. Sometimes newer versions of Directx and old cards can cause problems. Also try playing the game at a lower resolution to see if that helps.

I run dX 9. Going to try to downgrade it to 8 then.

And my card is not that old (1,5 years) but I am running it on a laptop.

I had the same problem (CTD). running XP, GeForce4 mx 4000. What I had to do to fix the problem was install the original driver that came with my video card. However now I have horrible lag during battles, no matter how small the armies. Strange thing is, over the 4 years I have had the game I have uninstalled and reinstalled it numerous times with never a problem, until now. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
