As a first time poster I'll apologise in advance if I'm going over old ground. Is there an 'easy' way of removing certain units completely from vanilla RTW? I'm referring to units such as wardogs, pigs, screeching women, and a few of those 'Roman' units (Arcani, Gladiators) etc. I can't say that modding skills are much above very basic, so if removing units is possible a step-by-step guide would be much appreciated.

Many thanks :book:

ps - Is there any way to order your troops to 'give ground' slowly a la Hannibal's centre at Cannae?

I can answer the first section. I will give you a step by step guide.

1) Go to your RTW directory.
2) Enter your data foulder.
3) Double-click Export_Descr_Buildings
4) Click on "edit" on the toolbar at the top. Then "Find".
5) Type the unit's name exactly or enough charcters for the computer to find it (e.g: Arca for Arcani).
6) Click which way you want to search (your at the top so click down).
7) Click find next.
8) You should arrive sooner or later if you did it correctly at a line looking at this (If you put in Arcani into "Find"):

recruit "roman arcani" 0 requires factions { romans_scipii, }
9) Erase the whole line.

There you go! Enjoy! :2thumbsup:

PS: Several units can be recuited in different locations so keep on use "Find" until you can't find the unit any more.

PSS: Some units do not have the same name as on screen like Praetorian Cavalry , which I think is Roman Heavy Cavalry in this file. If you can't find what your looking for, "Find" Stables, Missle, Barracks and Temples, they all can recruit units (I forgot the Bardic circle can recuit German Night Raiders).

:sweatdrop: Finished.

The only thing I could suggest is placing your troops in the center into loose formation. This will result in the (in theory) being pushed back quicker than their comrades on their flanks (who would be in close formation). In this manner I would think it might be possible to acheive that crescent formation you are looking for.
