Well its not good enough for you to start 1 rumour but you have to start another one. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
Where do you think those boats are from a video of the Mongols landing or are they actually going to include boat units?
By the way I am not starting a rumour about boats being used in battles. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/tongue.gif

Hmmm, did we see those boats in the movie or not.... hehehe
My guess is that the boats are the way the Mongol forces / reinforcements arrive.
Disclaimer: this is only a guess. I don't know. We don't know. Those that know don't tell us. No claims can be made to me or the hosts of this forum if/when the boats have a different function or no function at all. If anybody, blame Bill Gates. He's rich enough.
Phew...

I'm think the boats 'might' be like buildings, the sreenshots with boats in look to be from the map editor. So perhaps they're added as scenery for coatal battles, opposed mongol landings maybe so the mongol army starts on the beach with the ships in the background or maybe in the ships, and then lands

I think the boats are amphibious assault vehicles which have dual 50 caliber machine guns and rocket launchers in order to get those *%$# campers of the hill http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif Just kidding. The shot are nice though. Erado San I am not sure whether I saw any questions on your list asking about the boats and what they are used for. Could you sneak one on the list?

I'm also going to risk a bit of reasoned specualtion based on the images. Some of them would appear to be battles between clans not against mongols. Now if my understanding of the XP is right only one clan fights the mongols. Hence a Japanese v Japanese battle is either a custom of mp battle, in which looking at the unit icons you can now adjust armour and weapon levels, OR it's a scene from an MP campaign where you can build armouries and smithies etc.

Cat they are adding extra buildings to the original campaign. So those things in the unit icon are probably something to do with them.
By the way there werent any screenshots to do with the multiplayer campaign. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

With regard to the ships I meant buildings in the sense of the huts and pagodas etc you get on the battlemaps.
The things in the unit icons are just the swords and coloured shields it already has. My point was that it's a Japaese v Japanese battle, which means it can't be from the new sp campaign. Who says none of the pictures were taken in an mP campaign battle?

Well, it's always possible that the GASource pics are from the normal SP campaign, just the Warlord Edition version of it. (This would mean that the beach maps have somehow been implemented in that, too. Hmm...)
But then again, I always thought the devs had promised that the armor/weapon quality levels will be made adjustable in MP/custom. "You didn't know?" http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif
As for the ship issue, one editor screenshot at the Community Site (http://www.totalwar.com/community/index.htm) shows how the ships are placed on the map: add model, then select texture, just like buildings. I think this shows that they will not be "operable", just a part of the landscape.

Anssi, you smart so-and-so! -I believe you are right about that...
The editor icons, (featured in the top left of the new pics), are very interesting, eh?
So this is where Cat racked up all those extra posts. Anyway, the editer looks interesting. I really want to try it out and see if it's just going to be a bunch of crap that is useless or a good design tool that can be used to make interesting new maps to enhance my gaming experience.

I too vote for the ships as being nothing more than pure eye-candy http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif Then again one of my first posts here was a request for more eye-candy and an editor...so I say great! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
Reviewing the pictures, has anyone else noticed the large number of pics that concern fire? Might we get a pillage and burn option?
Did you notice the screen showing the amount of plunder after conquering a province? Dare we hope that this isn't limited to just the Mongols? Might be a good way to get some extra koku in a hurry w/o taking over an untenable province.
Just a thought or two http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
