The Lord of the Rings: Total War
Version 2.0 PREVIEW D

The modcreator, Wlesmana, is taking a break and leaving for the US but to give you something to chew on while he's out for a friend's wedding, he's presenting another preview of mostly the Dwarves Clans and Mordor. So without further ado here we give you yet another preview to get excited about.

The revamped Warg riders. Warg riders will now be berserker unit, making Isengard's cavalry (and Orcs Rabbles') more powerful but at the same time uncontrollable.

Who loves dwarves?? I know I do!!

Dwarven Axemen fighting the Easterlings.

http://www.lotrtw.com/gallery/dwarfprev7.jpg

Dwarven Enforcers massacring Clansmen Raiders

http://www.lotrtw.com/gallery/dwarfprev8.jpg

Dwarven Vanguards going toe-to-toe with armored goblins (yes, I'm calling them goblins now because I'd get them confused with Mordor's orcs)

http://www.lotrtw.com/gallery/dwarfprev9.jpg

Dwarven Halberdiers pushing through the ranks of goblins.

http://www.lotrtw.com/gallery/dwarfprev10.jpg

Veteran fighters and guards of their lords, the Oldbeards rush into the fray!

And now let's hear some screeching!!!

http://www.lotrtw.com/gallery/mordorprev2.jpg

SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH!!!! The Nazgul leading a band of Black Guards charging the Gondorian line. The nine nazgul will only be available in the ATW version of the mod, for more details go to http://www.lotrtw.com and look for the topic called "Announcement!".

The battle is joined by the army of Mordor.

And last but definitely not least:

The elven Sentinels of Mithlond. This elite unit will be buildable by any of the elven factions, whichever holds the Grey Havens. Their strength is about equal to that of the guardians of Rivendell.

The Elves mark the end of this preview, for atleast a month there will be no more previews on Wles' behalf.

Very, very neat! I especially love the Mithlond Sentinels, that´s at least one good-looking elf unit - no offence to Wles, he´s done a more than magnificent job of getting the units from the movie into the game, the blame for the Elves goes to the original designers.

The Nazgul will only be for the Alexander version  I had hoped they take the role of the Mordor generals, but considering you can ahve more than nine of those... maybe they wraithed some folk with their Morgul knifes, neat way of recruiting :laugh4:

now that brings a whole new twist on "man of the hour," eh?

No, Mordor will only have 9 Nazgul at the most. We have a script for this. When a Nazgul dies, the next turn he'd re-spawn at Barad'dur. Mordor will start with 2 or 3 orc generals (Gothmog, Skully). They will not get anymore orc generals after these 2 died. Any Man Of The Hour adoption will be killed off and the Nazgul will not be able to breed.

As far as the Nasgul stabbing people, it merely turns them into wraiths. (Showing my nerdiness) The Nasgul are the Kings of Men who were gifted with the nine rings of power that men recieved. The Power of the One Ring corrupted and bound them to Sauron's service, so unless you get yourself some more rings of power, then you are pretty much stuck with what Nasgul you have.

I love the mod guys, keep up the good work!!!!:book:

Yes, the Kingdom of Dale is a faction in the mod. Their units can be seen in the previous previews (c, I think). The Dunedain Rangers, aka Rangers of the North are special "mercs". They can only be recruited through a script (a modified Client Kingdom script) which only runs with certain conditions, one being the faction they're applying to serve is at war with Mordor and its allies.

Is this mod still downloadable?

2.0 has not yet been published.

The latest version that can be downloaded is 1.1c, as far as I know, which is for RTW 1.2 (so if you´ve got Gold or have patched your original install to 1.3 and above it won´t work)

I noticed that it is 1.0c? Not 1.1c? Is there a single player map with 1.1c and where do I download it?

Whatever.
There is an inofficial campaign (called the movie edition) that uses the METW camapign map with the LotR models, you can find it at lotrtw.com, Wles´ homepage for this mod. Keep in mind that the map is neither made nor supported by Wles, though.
