:smoking:

Yup, I was thinking about having an Org Reunion somewhere in Europe maybe, so we can all go to a Tavern and discuss for real.

Plus, we can meet each other in person. ~:)

What do ya think? ~:pimp:

We need to have a parallel reunion held in the U.S., perhaps with a videoconference link between the two.

There have been a few such gatherings in the TW community and from the accounts and pictures it looks like all had a great time. There was one in the UK 2-3 years ago, one in northern Italy(?) for the Clan Celtiberos (I think), and another in perhaps the Netherlands. I also recall talk of having a US meeting in the midwest, but can't recall if it ever happened.

It would be very cool to meet my fellow Orgahs, but location and my finances at the time would dictate whether I could attent such an event. Even if you can only get a dozen people together it would probably be lots of fun for those who could make it.

I think Northeast US has enough followers we could put something together. If you can get to NH, I volunteer my house. If not, well, NYC is pretty central...

This is like the creepiest scenario of all time. People meeting online and then meeting in the real world. Something just weirds me out about it.

BUt, if one was held within a few hours drive, I am sure I would go. First I would go to the bar and watch from a distance to make sure it aint a frecken trekkie weirdo event. I know that some of you are normal. I also know that some of you are freeeeeeeeeaaaaaaakkkkkkss!!!!

You could probably get away with regional org meetings first: A U.S. West Coaster, East Coaster, Texas. Etc.

... I don't want anyone saying "who's that guy?"... "oh, I'm Wakizashi"... "ummm...who?"

"Nevermind." *stands alone uncomfortably*

Personally, I'd make a note of attending a Euro conference just to say that I'm the only American there... in which case I'd probably get mugged by JAG.

ROFL, that was great Wakizashi - see, I would know who you are~D

Regional ones might have the only significant chance of success...although it's a bit late in the year for that, methinks. Summer (and, consequently, vacations, for those who have them) is almost over.

Damn. Good point.
Though, If more people posted pics, then "online discussions" wouldn't be so creepy. It's the anonymity that is both initially attractive and ultimately disturbing. I still don't know why I am such a trusting guy. I probably trust the guys who have posted a pic more than anybody else here. MOst of you guys who have posted pics are probably normal: Don Corleone, Lemur, LEN, JAG, Gelatinous Cube, RedLeg, and Devastatin Dave to name a few.

But you do have a point about meetings between people who know eachother online seem a bit weird. Maybe we're just old fashioned ? :help:

I actually know many people who met their current spouses and significant others through the internet. That makes me hopeful. But then I also know that the internet is now more dangerous for sexual predators than strangers with candy. That makes me worried.

You fear to meet people through the internet because you're afraid they'll be sexual predators ? :dizzy2:

I don't think you're the type they tend to go for...

Not what I meant exactly. It just demonstartes that while the internet may be a place to meet normal people, there is always the risk of meeting a total nutter. Obviously, I don't worry about being "prey" (except from Sasaki Kojiro).

What I am talking about are the drooling socially incompetent weirdos who live in the basement of their parents' house with a zillion boxed toys, whacking off to teeny-bopper pictures of the Olsen Twins. *shudders*

I'd be great to meet some orgers. The best application I can see of this, however, is if you're traveling to an unfamiliar place and need to meet someone you already kind of know. I know for sure that if I visit Turkey that I'm going to beg LEN to show me the places NOT to go (and which women not to mess with).

I may be going to Germany to work for a year and would love to meet some "local" (Europe seems small to me, especially with the rail system) people. The fear of meeting someone stranger than I (not likely in less it is, The Stranger) is eclipsed by the fear of being shot or stabbed because I look like some goofy, lone American. :skull:

Oh and DivE, there is no such thing as an ex-Marine. As a matter of fact, I thought your former platoon was supposed to beat the crap out of you if you even think such a thing (I hear former Marine is OK though).

Former, ex, its the saem to me. They tried to feed us with that "no such thing as an ex-marine" garbage. I know: Once a Marine, always a Marine. And its true. There are parts of my personality that I refuse to allow to civilianize: Tenacity, integrity, discipline, bearing, sacrifice, etc. The problem is that few civilians take these qualities to the extreme that Marines take it. There is also an element of bonding between leathernecks that can be found only in very few other military organizations: seals, rangers, and probably some foreign country elites.

But what is the difference between "former" and "ex"? they both imply that someone no longer holds the title. I never bought into that. Seemed like language ignorance to me.

If we ever get serious about an Org-wide reunion, I think it might have to be in Great Britain. Hard on the Aussies, I know, but that's the way of things. U.S. orgites could organize vacation plans for GB, and Euro-orgiasts could meet us across the channel. Besides, that's where CA is located, so maybe we could even get a genuine company rep into the pub.

That's my $0.02.
