Hi,

I have a little with 3dsmax7 and skinning :

I want to create a shoulder protection named sode on a samurai armor. So i create a box divided in 3 sections in length and 5 sections in width. I resize my box and i apply the samurai texture to this box. Then, i add the Unwrap UVW Modifier and apply box mapping in the normal mapping menu like that :

So it gives the following render :

Then, i link the sode to the arm bone, export the model with cas exporter and close 3dsmax. Then i reopen 3dsmax and import the model and zoom on the sode it gives the following render :

The texture is completly distorted ! How must i do to keep the texture well-placed on the sode like in the first result and fix the problem?

Sincerely.

Manu

Well ive never heard of this happening, so although i cannot offer a solution i think this may be a couple of things.

Firstly, if you physically attatched the sode to the body then the UV maps can be screwed up on import. If you have edited the body UV maps, collapse the Unwrap UVW thing on the right otherwise on export for the body it wont export the modified UV maps.

However if you havent physically attatched it to the body, instead just linking it, then it may be because of the box. If on the right the sode has 'box' instead of 'editable mesh', then right click the sode and select collapse to editable mesh, this may solve your problem.

Howeverr, im afraid these are the only things i can see as having the problem, but if you cannot fix it simply implement it into the game and see if it looks ok, if it does then theres a hitch on your 3dsmax settings...

Good luck
