I'm playing as Carthage in RTR 5.41
When I lay siege to a walled town and build sapping points and ladders, when it comes to the actual assault the sapping points are there but there are no ladders.
But I have had ladders before, at some time in previous months this year.
Is there a "ladder bug", or is there some sort of a limit as to which troops are able to climb ladders?
Any help would be welcome please.

Were you assaulting a city with large or epic sized walls? If so, you can't have ladders on those battlefields. This is an annoying thing, not just because your siege engineers can't build a big enough ladder, but both you and the AI waste resources building these non-existant ladders. While the player learns from this, the AI doesn't and ends up assaulting a settlement with just a ram and a look of befuddlement on the face of its general as it wonders just where its ladders have gone.

I think in version 1.5/1.6 of RTW, that it's no longer possible to build ladders against large/epic sized walls. Well for epic sized walls you can't, but actually I think the problem resides with the just large walls. And I'm not sure they fixed this even after all those patches. Just don't bother trying to build ladders against anything other than small stone walls basically.

Or perhaps the ladders were equipping arcani units and they were hidden?

Kidding, Spatula has the right of this one.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't know that the size of the walls affected whether ladders were "allowed" or now.

Now I know.
Thanks again.
