I've searched the threads and can't find any other references to this so a few queries about AI assassins for anyone to answer or comment on.
My Arverni have just wiped the accursed Romani from the face of the earth. In doing so I lost about six family members to assassinations in like 10 years.
One of the assassins they used to do this used to be my best assassin who changed sides when the Romani bribed Capua back into there fold:furious3: .
Now this bloke was hot and when he was mine he only had about a 1% chance of defenestrating an enemy family member in cities and about a 3-6% of a successful hit out in the field.
Also about half the time I could see the assassin in question before he struck:wall: .
Is the AI's chance of a successful assassination way larger than the player?
Also the amount of spies or assassins in the generals stack didn't seem to make much difference so is there a way to decrease the chances of your factions family members being bumped off?
I think AI success depends on how hard you have set the campaign (excuse my spelling). The AI don't use assasins or briberys at all (usually) on easy, they do sometimes on moderate, they in frequently do on hard but I think enemy assasins do a bonus and on very hard the AI try it all the time and seems to do bonus'.
The best way to stop a family member from being assasinated simply either assasinate any enemy (or nutral) asssasins that you see or don't send the genrals out onto the feild. Use captains like I do!

Yea the enemy at one point starts spewing assassians like no tomorrow. Just use your own assassains on them first. Use your spies to spot theirs first then killem. Assassains kill other assassains super easy so you get their skills up fast. During 1 war with the romans, they started sending them by the dozens at me. I didn't mine, gave mine tons of skill and since they keep popping out more, keep them from making real units. Of course I did lose a lot of good governors to them first :furious3:
Best ways to stop theirs other then killing, is to add a spy or assassain with high skill to your general's army. Helps improve their security.

I do most of the same and it was just one of those occasions with a war on two fronts and all those internal uprisings my assassins were busy from Germany to Sicily and Illryia to Spain. Will try the high rated spies with armies though as I've been restricting them to cities to build up networks until now.
The difficulties are both set to Medium (I'm a financial wimp) and my bribed assassin, who like I said was hot, was a 68% to hit with a newboy recruited from Rome.
Guess that the Romans just got a lucky streak. Alea iacta est indeed! "Bloody Romans".
I will say that combined with the same city being bribed three times and a huge rebellion in another just before the final Romanicide, it did push the envelope strategically and this is were EB does excel. Also it was the most satisfying "Faction Destroyed" card out of all the RTW campains I've played.

What I like doing is having a spy and a diplomat in every army and city, then have 3 or 4 of my own assassins running around. These will kill any spies/assassins that AI have,, and any enemy diplomats that are annoying me.
