Hello EB forum dwellers!
My question is rather simple, but I fear has a rather complex answer...Is there a way to change the portraits of family members? I'm particularly dissatisfied with those of the Ptolemiac and Seleukid persuasion, and would like to change both. Any answer is appreciated!

You have to use Vercingetorix's PAK Extractor to unpack the ui_0.pak file in your data\packs folder. The program will create a new subfolder in the packs directory called "data" - go to the new data\ui\carthaginian\portraits (for Ptolemaic portraits) and replace with Greek portraits (or vanilla Egyptian portraits, if you want them; but be warned, Pontos will have the same portraits as the Ptolemies). Do the same for the "roman" portraits (Seleucids, Armenians, Bactrians).
Then it's a matter of re-packing the file. Alternatively, you could copy all the files to the appropriate places and then rename ui_0.pak, that should work.
In short: it's a lot of work to do, you may as well wait for 0.8 ~D

Thanks for your answer Cheexsta, even if it is a bit hard to swallow! ~;)
I take it then that the portraits will be changed around for version 0.8? Also, where can I find this PAK Extractor?
Not all the portraits, some new ones are already added in, but more of the vanilla ones will be removed, I think. I would expect. PAK Extractor can be found here (http://www.twcenter.net/downloads/db/?act=mod&id=43).

Well, the current issues with portraits are mostly due to the culture-swapping done by the EB team. In the vanilla 1.2 game, all factions are given a pre-defined and hardcoded culture that cannot be changed. So to fit in all the factions they wanted, the EB team had to swap some of the factions around; Romans use the "seleucid" faction slot (hence the Greek portraits), the Seleucids, Armenians and Bactrians use the various "roman" slots and so on.
However, with the 1.5+ patches for RTW and BI, cultures are now able to be modded. This means that 0.8 will be able to give each faction their appropriate portraits and culture penalties and the like will be working properly. So you can expect that most (if not all) of the portraits *should* be back to normal. And if not, it can be easily modded ~:)

That's great to hear. While it's only a minor cosmetic issue, seeing my Seleucids with Roman faces and my Ptolemiacs with Carthaginian ones tends to meddle with the immersion factor of EB.
I've just one other question, if it isn't too much trouble to answer. Will Greeks speak Latin anymore once 0.8 rolls around?

As far as I can remember the voices are linked to the factions culture type so this will most likely be resolved as well.
