Mafia subforum?

With Silver Rusher starting one, there are now three Mafia games going on in the Frontroom. It's starting to clog it up a bit.

Before any of the threads are closed, let me just say that these games are not just mindless spamathons. There are a lot of psychological nuances and people have to really think in order to make the games better.

Instead, I ask the admins if perhaps a subforum could be created for the purpose of housing Mafia and other similar forum games. It would clear some space in the Frontroom as well as make the actual games themselves more organized.

Well, I think they give the frontroom a certain charm and don't mind them, it's not like they spread out like spam threads or political threads. But I wouldn't mind a subforum either, I would however, like to make it a general 'games' forum, in case we can think of other games to play besides mafia someday :idea2:

don't know about a new subforum just for this.. however I can imagine it being irritating have 3 threads, because there are a couple of stickied thread in frontroom as well. myself I've set number of threads per page to 25 or so, so I don't have a problem with the current situation.

It would be pretty interesting if the .Org became the only forum on the internet to have a subforum entirely dedicated to a single forum game.

oh yeppa, a sub-forum for a mafia game would be too much. Monastery has a Chapter House because the stories written there are history-themed ones.

I´m not speaking on behalf of the other moderators, but in general the staff won´t create a new forums unles they are fairly certain that the trend will last. There is no point in opening a specific subforum for forumgames if those will be out of fashion in three months hence.

If this is the case, why not have a forum for forum games in general? Many forums have them, and so I don't see why we shouldn't. This forum would house games such as beat the person above you, three word story and so on.

I wouldnt mind seeing a mafia-style game where there is a requirement to actually roleplay all your posts instead of just posting a guess.

These days people who guess on a whole generally get lynched anyway, so I wouldn't worry about that. ~;)

For the time being, we're going to limit the Mafia games in the Frontroom to two at any one time. Threads about Mafia games will also be limited.

It was suggested that a third Frontroom Mafia game be moved to the Entrance Hall to get around the "not more than two please" rule. This isn't going to happen. If the EH mods allow a game started there, that's their business, but we're not going to have Mafia games being shifted from forum to forum like lost puppies looking for new homes. As for a sub-forum, that is beyond my pay grade.

It was mentioned that once you're killed off in-game, you can only watch for weeks until the game ends before you can play again. If true, and depending on how fast people get killed, you could have a dozen games going on at once and still some people would have to wait for a new one to start so they could play. Perhaps you could alter the game somewhat to make it faster so people aren't left waiting such a long time to play. Then you wouldn't need five or six or ten games at once.

I wouldnt mind seeing a subforum for all the various forum games we have clogging up the system. Three word stories, mafia, the RTW game in the Colosseum, beat the person above you, etc...
I could make a roleplaying forum game without having to try and figure out if this forum is the right place or that forum is the right place, and it wont clutter up the thread listings of actual, meaningful conversations

Well if a sub forum is created it could always be like it is here in the watchtower, meaning posts wouldn't add to postcount.
